Does the material of the woofer make a big difference??

Hey guys

Does the material of a woofer on a floor standing speaker make a big difference in the sound?

I'm looking at some klipsch speakers, particularly the sf-3 and the rf-35. Supposedly they're he exact same speaker but the sf-3 has a paper composite woofer, while the rf-35 has a gold woofer.

Will the difference in sound be noticable??

i am able to get the following setup for arounf $ 900


Fronts: Klipsch rf-3
Center: klipsch SC-1
surrounds: klipsch SS-1
Subwoofer : KSW-10

is this a good deal for this system?
What is the difference between klipsch's synergey and reference lines?

There are many differences in the two lines. The Synergy line uses aluminum tweeters and the Reference line uses Titanium tweeters in the horn/ The copper woofers in the reference line are much more rigid, lighter thus creating a tighter bottom end.

Driver material itself isn't as important as driver design and implementation. IOW a cheap copper/aluminum/poly cone driver with a poorly integrated, lousy crossover won't sound as good as a well designed paper cone driver with a good crossover.

All other things being equal (crossover, cabinet, etc) can a metallic woofer achieve lower frequency response than a paper cone woofer of the same size?

I think the lighter, more rigid materials lend themselves to faster transients and lower distortion rather than being able to plumb the lower depths. I may be wrong though.
