Good grief I'm not a troll. What part of "I so badly want to own Transformers in all its audio/visual glory" did you not get?
I owned an XA2 last year, and was unhappy with the de-interlacing the player does. This resulted in some shimmery/jaggy bits in a few movies (MI:3 and The Hulk). I made a thread at the time and was branded a troll, despite showing pictures of the PS3's MI:3 vs the XA2's MI:3 showing the superiority of the Blu-ray version. At that time, my only purpose was to bring this issue to everyone's attention.
Now, about a year later, there still seems to be no resolution. I really want Transformers, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Pride and Prejudice (out soon!) etc, but not with the way the HD DVD hardware is.
My TV doesn't do a great job de-interlacing AT ALL. It's pretty awful actually. It does accept 1080p24 but converts it to 1080p60. Will that fix the issue? For the 1080p24 to work on my TV, the PS3 had to have an update to FORCE 24p. Before then, it wouldn't work. Do the new players have a FORCE 1080p24 option?
Thanks for replies (even the negative one!
). I'd like to own an HD DVD player again. Just need a little convincing. Transformers is calling my name. Nay, it's yelling it!
