Ok, so here are the first pics of the finished bipoles!

The thing you cant see from the pics is that they are bottom ported.
I wanted to get a little more extension and efficiency out of the cabinents.
Definitely not small wimpy surrounds.

If you wanted to put them on stands you could put them upside down.

They look really good in person.

Ben sent another pic.

This one with grill on

I bet Alex!

Cant wait to hear em!

For the first time Im going to attempt to conceal wires inside the walls. So it will be a bit of an undertaking to get everything up and running. There are all these old electrical plates from where they rewired the house: they just put all new outlets in. So Im thinking those may come into play to help. I will be definitely using one and getting hdmi wall plates from monoprice to get my hdmi cable to the pj at the back of the room.

Alex, did Ben have any luck finding keyhole brackets for those?

Wow what happened to all the posts?!

Anyways anyone else notice a buzz to the sound out of the speakers. I've had mine since Saturday afternoon. It doesnt sound as clear as my athena micras did , it sounds like a poor quality speaker, which i know these aren't. voices and sounds, sound very robotic almost, radio like even. i never had this problem w/ the athenas. I dont know maybe i am over listening. For what its worth i am actually using generic 20g wire, as my athenas were in wall mounted, i'm going to get new wire tom'r and give that a try. Not sure what else to do. This is mostly w/ tv viewing listening. Blu-ray viewing it hasnt been as bad so to speak. Anyways if anyone can give me a thought on what it might be, i'd greatly appreciate it.

Cross overs are as follows,
6t6 towers @ 60hz
6t6 mtm @ 80
rear athenas @ 100hz
this is all on an onkyo 604

The sound is kinda muddy I guess you could say.

Edit: After closer inspection it seems "muddiest" from the center 6t6 MTM. I've read about the other post about the speaker being too low, that is not the case w/ mine, mine sits on top of the TV of the entertainment unit, on the bridge.

similar to this. on top in the center

Hey Thunder,

I was wondering the same with the posts....wierd.
Well, I'm not too sure myself. Mine sits below the TV in the stand, centered. My crossovers are set to their max low abilities if you will, the towers being in full band (since I do not have a sub currently) and my center 6t6 at 50 Hz, coupled with an Onkyo 805.

I'm running mine with CL2 14 guage wire from monoprice with banana connectors. Ran Audessey MultiEQ as well. My speakers are clear as day, haven't had any troubles. Only problem I did run into was I thought there was an issue with the tweeter(s), potentially the center's tweet crackling at with voices only.... Turned out I was hearing things...

Speakers also obviously have improved even more so (if that were possible) the more they've been fed sound.

I would recommend maybe phoning up Alex et al. and speaking with them personally....Sorry for not being of too much help...

Just in case people missed it, AVS had a huge database failure and lost about a weeks worth of posts. News story on the front page, or at the top of every forum.

Bummer about the muddy sound... my stuff is on order so I've got no suggestions, but calling can't hurt. Let us know if you find out anything.
Buzz from your speakers is likely a wiring issue. You should see if the new wires help, rerunning speaker set up for your onkyo as well (did the 604 have audyssey?).

I'm also using 14 gage speaker wire from monoprice with their closed type banana plugs connecting my towers and 6T6-MTM center to my Yamaha RX-V1800. Ran YPAO automatic speaker set up and all three speakers have been perfectly clear (towers set to 'large' since I don't have a sub) for me.
Well, my first post here got deleted when the server took that major dump (poop joke? you decide...), but I got my towers and 6t6 center today! I was waiting at home all day for the shipment, setting up my new TV stand and such. Around 2:30, I look out the window and see the FedEx truck leaving my complex. I check the shipping status, and the son of a bitch left it at the leasing office without even knocking on my door. I wouldn't be that upset, but I just moved into my third-floor apartment and my back still hurts like a mother.

Anyway, I haul the speakers up, finish setting everything up, unbox my Yamaha 663 that has been waiting patiently for a while, and try it out. This is my first system, so as I have no idea what the hell I'm doing, I run YPAO. Everything seems good at this point.

My girlfriend decides she wants to try it out, so we slip in, wait for it... Pride and Prejudice. Yeah... I know. But hey, all that dialog let me test out the center pretty well.

I'll try some other stuff tomorrow, and if I'm feeling adventurous maybe tweak the settings a bit.

Oh yeah, and as I was unboxing my towers, I get a call from Casey at eD to see how everything was going. You guys kick ass.

i'm looking to purchase the 6t6 towers, 6t6 center, and a3-300 sub.

it will be running off a onkyo 606 or 706 reciever.

my question is... is there any reason not to get 6t6 msm surrounds? i see a lot of people on here having the same setup with 5t5 surrounds? what is the reason for that?

also, i see a lot of folks upgrading to the 13ov.2 sub in the a3-300... what is the reasoning behind that? my hesitation comes from seeing the 13ov.2 needs 600w rms to run it.

I use the 6t6 MTMs as surrounds. Reasons I can think of NOT to go with the 6T6:
1) Price constraints.
2) Using 5T5s across the front stage, so keeping in the same product line.
3) Space/size (although there's hardly a difference, but...).

As for the a3-300, I think most just upgrade because it's a better driver for only $25 more. Others can correct me because this isn't my area of expertise, but I don't think the driver requires 600w, but it's capable of handling a 600w.
ok, spoke with chris today. looks like i'm leaning towards the 6t6 towers, the 6t6 center, the 5t5 mtm surrounds, due to 6t6 size yet (yet for just a few bucks more then the 5tc), and the a3-300 with upgraded sub. i'm pretty set on the tv. i have to relook all the reciever info before i follow through because i haven't check this stuff out for a few months because of a deployment.

have a question regarding the 6t6 towers, where are the spikes supposed to be attached? the holes in the 4 corners of the towers' stands have no threads and are too big to put the spikes in.

The holes on the bottom of the towers are threaded on my towers. You just screw them into the holes to install them.

They do look threaded, but the spikes do not fit, spikes are too small to use the threads for screwing in.

You are installing right on the wooden parts? I'm wondering if I dropped parts in the box. Will need to check when I get home.

where do some of you guys place your 6T6 MTM center channels? it seems most TV stands under 20" do not have a top shelf with enough clearance to accommodate the almost 9" height of the 6T6.

is the OmniMount CCH1B a viable solution for center channel with the Samsung HL67A750 RPTV?
my hesitation comes from either getting the towers or the 6t6 mtm as front speakers... would the 6t6 mtm not be a better match?

in either case i'm pondering the 6t6s as surrounds, again for the better match.

Made my own TV stand custom built around the dimensions of the 6t6mtm. It fits snug in the center top shelf.

definately doesn't seem as flat as the mtms

thoughts?

I've got the towers with the 6t6 center and I'm loving it. I was told by most people and truly believe myself now after having them that you would regret not having got the towers instead of the mtm's.
Ok, well after much playing around with position and listening i think i've gotten used to the speakers and found a suitable place and angle for the center channel. However tonight i'm watchin a movie on "TNT HD" and during quick fast paced scenes it seems the speakers tend to crackle and get static-y popping, mostly music. It doesnt seem to happen any other time, first last night w/ Blade Trinity and Blade II, and now tonight? Never w/ any BR been playing Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds Live @ Radio City and John Mayer Where the light is and zero issues. Seems like the source, can this damage the speakers and i should just not watch TNT HD or any other suggestions? That would really suck. No Problems on normal tnt.

Thanks again to eD for everything. Everything w/ them has been exceptional. Chris and Alex are both class acts.

Can the A3 5TC bookshelves and A6 5T5 center take banana plugs? Pictures would seem to indicate they can, but I'm still a bit of a speaker noob.

Awesome. I just wired up some rather old (but surprisingly good) Electro-Voice bookshelves I stole off my parents, as an interim bit of gear before we buy and mount a full 7.1 setup. Let's just say I'm just never going to use binding posts again if I can help it. Real hassle to deal with, to say the least.
I just bought a 5.1 setup including the upgraded A3-300 and towers and bookshelves... ALL WITHOUT EVER HAVING HEARD THEM!!!

I've been doing research for over 2 months now, and I took a plunge toward eD based solely on reviews as well as this forum... They will be hooked up to an H/K 254 and will go with a 52" XBR5 that is on the wall... We shall see...

The towers and center will be here tomorrow...

Say prayers for me; this is a new approach for me...
Some center channel speakers such as SVS have a built-in adjustable stand (maybe 2 inches or so high), has anyone come up with a similar setup for there 6T6 or the like?

Thanks...
So it's been nearly a month now of having the 6t6/tower front stage.

I watched Hitman last night and all I can say is WOW! I don't know if it is the DTS HD Master Audio or that there is a ton of midrange on the track, but the bass output (along with the higher end) of the towers and center was nothing short of spectacular. This was the best sounding experience I have had yet with the eD speakers. Perhaps they have reached the sweet spot of being broken in...
I ordered two 5t5s and a 6t6 mtm center, i read it might over power the mains. any advice would help.

When will these be available. The only reason why i did not have eD in my debate was because the lack of bipoles. but now that you guys carry that is a great thing. What is the pricing and availability.

Thanks

They did this as a custom project for me.

Many of their products started out as a custom project. I'm pretty sure anything done once can be done again. I guess if there is a big demand for something it may become a regular item?

Alex, Chris is that pretty accurate?

I set these up and did a little listening. I've been moving so I havent had a lot of time but the theater is up and running.

They sound pretty awesome! They do dissapear a lot more than direct radiators and I noticed in one scene that I thought a woman was in my backyard as I had the window by my couch open. Turns out it was part of the sountrack! I'm definitely happy. Sure, the 6t6 mtms would make great surrounds too but I think the diffuse feild gives a more of an actual movie theater sound.

I forgot to mention that they could have put a dipole/bipole switch in for extra cost but I opted to just put everything in phase.

Glad to hear they're working out for you.

As for producing them, yeah, it can definitely be done, just need to e-mail us directly.
HMMMMM hey Chris do you think this would work i just thought of an idea. Basically i am looking for surrounds right now, as my couch is right against back wall which is why i was thinking flush mounting dipoles/bipoles speakers. But then i saw the pic of the surrounds you guys did above. And my question is what you think about basically taking half of the above speaker, basically cutting in half and making a speaker that way. So it will be a single directional speaker but angled properly against he back wall. I dunno if this makes since. Below is a sketch of the setup i was thinking.

Or do you think i should just go with standrard dipoles and flush those to back wall???

Or should i go like this

I would go with 6t6 mtm's with that setup personally.

You would benefit most of putting a pair of bipoles directly to the right and left of your ears for surround left and right. Since you're all the way in the back corner, I dont think you'd benefit much from the design.

I only ordered 2 pairs because I just wanted a really good match all around.
I could have gone with bipoles/dipole for the left and right surrounds and direct radiators for the rears as well.

However, if you sat two bipoles on stands in the corners at a 45 degree angle with the null aimed at your head that would produce a pretty big surround environment too.

I too had the couch at the back wall. I just moved it a few feet forward (to the dismay of my wife) and Im in good range to hear the sides and rears.

Just my two cents.
