How in the world can it take so long, especially since you just did a stock item, no extras outside of the de? Is it lack of drivers, help, money, or what?

Come on now, you know for a fact that the amps on my HP's were not working properly. How can you sit there and bash my subs when you know damn good and well that it was an issue with the amps you amp killer you.

If we extrapolate the peak output of the old Captivators in my room, at my seating position, during the spring solstice, take that times pie r squared and invert that quadratically into the HP amp we can clearly see that Archaea is an idiot.

hahaha....

always an amp issue around this place...

My stuff coulda sounded betta....'I could of been a contender'

nah -- man I told you honestly I thought your setup sounded great - and that includes the submersives! Anybody - including me - would be happy to have your complete home theater setup!

The wife and I watched Ghost Protocol last night, it sounded amazing on the eD's. We should have watched that last weekend, there was no imax scenes like it Tron like I thought there were, so the image stayed inside my frame where it belongs. Oh well.

I jumped out of my seat a couple of times... legs flailing...

HAHA Carp just watch the hulk and talk about how your amps didn't shut down...

Funny thing is I did just watch the hulk and although my system didn't restart I now feel like I am missing out on so much more. After hearing both Carps and Archaeas systems I feel the ed cinema 12's paired up with with some caps (maybe a S2) would fill my void quite well! Now I just need to make the room for them.

How is the midbass on the cinema 12's

From what I heard it was great. Especially considering the receiver carp was using that night. I don't believe the cinema 12s are ment to play all that low. Carp did put them in full range at one point and they held up pretty well till they couldn't play any lower. I think he had them crossed at 80 or 100 and with his subs doing their job the full system sounded GREAT!

A very quick review....
The highs were very dynamic and never came across as harsh. The mids had the impact/slam that could keep up with the LFE from duel SubM's. Bass/LFE was great even if there were some amp issues that night. No one left asking where was the bass.

I forgot who said it but someone did mention how clear the dialog was. I would agree everything was super clear.

No amp issues that night (first time ever for Archaea) but I did accidentally mute one of my Submersives part way through the night when switching from program 1 to program 2. From that point on, it was all the front left Submersive - I'm a moron.

For those that don't know the Submersives have 2 buttons on them, one is to switch from program 1 to 2 which gives a 3db boost from about 30hz (or maybe 25hz? can't remember) down to the mid to low teens or however low you response goes in your room.

The other button is the mute. The buttons are real close to each other and look/feel the same.

For me I run my subs so hot that it's hard to tell. When I run just the speakers it doesn't seem like much mid-bass to me because I am used to so much mid-bass coming from the subs. I often use a higher crossover.

If I run the subwoofers flat and level matched with the speakers it then sounds like the subs themselves have no mid-bass and we know that's not the case...

Every person that has been in my room that has been shown what flat bass that's level matched to the speakers has the same exact reaction. "Go back to how it was before."

Getting back to your question, the eD 12"s are meant to be crossed over at 80hz, their response drops off a cliff below the low 70's.

Stitch, what is the timeline for you? I can't wait to hear a S2... You probably should get 2 of them though.

I totally agree.

If I hadn't had the same experience on my first order (Front 3 12's) I'd be concerned.

I sure hope I don't have to wait that long. What is the woofer used in the standard c12?

Really?, that has been the price for as long as I can remember. There were some intro "specials" but otherwise pretty consistent.

Well, I have not been keeping up. I think they were $1499 intro and then $1799 but now $1499. Maybe they were $1299 intro, I don't remember but it was a while ago! The triple 8's were $799 at first, now $1099. Either way very nice product and Jeff is an great guy to deal with.

Im looking for speakers that wont break the bank and have high impact above 80hz. They just look mean. haha

Well I got a price from Alex on a LCR setup just like nezff but with the standard driver. With grills and shipping, I don't know how they do it. If I purchase everything myself I am saving about $105 (each speaker), but that doesn't even include the wood, or paint, or grills. And then I would have to build it.

He said about 3-4 weeks, oh boy, where have I seen that before. I guess I can explain to him if they aren't in my possession in 4 weeks then I will cancel. But still, great price.

In that case, these are the speakers for you.

I was told two weeks on my custom three. (center and two surrounds) I received them 2-3 days after the two weeks. FedEx took the two to three days. Lol

Shipping will vary based on how custom and which drivers are in stock. I ordered on March 14 and will receive tomorrow. I was quoted 2-3 weeks. I am not mad, just know things happen and Alex and the crew at eD do what they can.
What flavor did you order?

I still have not received it which was due Friday. I ordered 6 DIY A7S-650 kits minus the amps and will use my clone amp to power them all.

Can't wait to hear your impressions. Do you know how you are going to configure them in the room?
