Anyone know of a store online that has TV stands that will accommodate the 6T6 in the middle shelf, ideally in the $200-$300 range?

I don't know about the middle shelf; I put mine on the top shelf and mounted my TV on the TV stand (as seen in the picture in the link). I could measure and try, but I doubt it will work. I have the 6T6 MTM center and surrounds, 6T6 towers on order. I mounted my 46" Sharp Aquos LCD on this stand. I bought it at BJs B&M.

That's exactly what I helped a buddy do--he's got a 3.0 (6T6) for L/C/R and is using a black glass and metal TV stand from BB ($249). His 42" Toshiba flatscreen LCD mounts just above the center 6T6 sitting on his top shelf and his equipment is below on the bottom shelf. It looks and sounds great. His 5T5 rears should be shipping in the next week or so (I hope!) and then we'll see about the sub...

I'd definitely go with the better speakers at first, even if you have to buy less of them.

Good luck!

Same Stand i posted back a few pages. Its a Bush Universal. Just pop off the glass and drop it in. Its a monster so unless its going on top of the stand i don't see it fitting in a lot of others.

Actually it is very close, but different--the TV is mounted to twin pillars up the back, allowing for the center 6T6 to sit on the top of stand. I don't have a pic, but will take one later and try to post it.

Layd Dly--great looking setup--nice pick on the paint! We are doing something very similar in our dining room...

Either way, the point is the same--you can make the 6T6 center work with a couple (or more) options!

I think the sound quality is worth it based on what I heard...
Layd Dly ... Did you glue your "nick nacks" to the shelf above your display? You would think the sub would rattle them down

BTW ... Nice looking setup. Which HK AVR?

Very cool! That's actually the same stand that I was just looking at. The store is calling it the Bush Midnight Mist.

Thanks to everyone for the replies! My obsessive research on this project is nearing it's end!

I have the same stand as well and love it. As I mentioned in a post a couple months ago, the center fits on the top shelf just fine, but because it's so big, the only way to get it in there is to lower it in from the top, before the glass is put in place.
Other than that, it's excellent, holds tons of components.

Thanks guys ive been putting it together over time, and the only things that have actually rattled off are the silver Christmas trees which are now away for the season everything else just moves a tad. I do find myself repositioning the next day after a good low sounding movie. .

And Its the AVR 247, sparklies and all but i had $300 in GC to Bestbuy this holiday season and i needed something that took Multi PCM over HDMI and since BB doesn't carry Onkyo its what i picked up.

I"m pretty new to the forum - but have been doing lots and lots of reading via the search button. Pretty excited to say I just made an order with eD for the following...

1 x A6 - 6T6 - MTM Single
1 x A3 - 5TC - Bookshelf Pair
1 x A6 - 6T6 - Tower Pair
1 x A3 - 300 Subwoofer

Went with the bookshelfs for the rears because of size/space (wanted them on the wall). I must say I'm a bit nervous, I was pretty convinced on piecing together a Klipsch system but just read so many positive things about eD I decided to give them a go. I just need to figure out a reciever to buy, but for now I have an older Marantz SR580. Its under powered, but will have to work for now.

I have the same setup coming in the next couple of weeks. As for the reciever, there are many factors to consider. If I were getting a new AVR, I'd want it to be HDMI 1.3 compatible (A/V switching). I would also want the reciever to be able to decode the newer audio formats (BD/HD DVD). Make sure that the reciever can push 6 ohm speakers (this shouldn't be a problem, but check) and play them as loudly as you'd want. This should get you started.
Does anyone have any experience using spades on the bookshelves, particularly the 5TC? I'm just wondering about size compatibility. I'm thinking about buying some terminated cables from Bluejeans.

Edit - Nevermind I can probably get by with banana plugs.

Anyone else with the 6T6 Tower Pair and/or 5TCs getting excited that the in-stock date of 2/11 is coming up soon? I keep checking their site, hopeful that they either came in early or that my order status has changed. So far at least the backorder date hasn't gotten pushed out. Typically if they send something on Tuesday I can have it by Friday, so I hope they ship on Tuesday.

I was until I decided to cancel my order and go with a pair of Monitor Audio speakers. I think the eD's are a great bargain and they probably do sound as great as many members state, but I had the extra money so I decided to put my bet on the monitor's. I will probably pick up a set of eD's for my upstairs living room one day.

Sorry to agree with you jmalto--you'll love the Monitors! Please PM me about which ones.

Still, the eD sound very good in this ridiculously low price-point! I ordered 3 6T6 for the LCR and 2 5TC for the rears for a buddy who just got married and is easing his wife into his a/v aspirations--they are very, very happy with the 6T6s so far! I was very impressed also.

Crossing my fingers for them that the 5TC actually ship next week...
OH Happy Day! Account status changed!

$552.50 processed for cabinet, $552.50 processed for speakers to ship Monday.

That's a 6T6 Tower Pair and 5TC pair. If it does leave on Monday, I should have them by Friday next week!
Lucky bum. My towers and A5-350 have not changed status. It does say 2/8 processing though so that looks good. Ive had 3 6t6 that I have used a little bit. They are set up LRC for now but will be RS C LS when the towers get here. I used them a little bit but I had to send a reciver back, a new one is coming but via super snail shaver shipping. It would be a shame if my new speakers got here and I had nothing to use them with. The 6t6s came like 1 day after I ordered them.

I have the same setup right now with the 6t6 MTMs and will do the same with mine when the Tower Pair get here. FWIW, I called eD on Friday about some stuff and they said they have orders going back to before Christmas for the Tower Pair. They are shipping them in the order they were placed. Alex said if not Monday, the rest of the orders would go out within a few days.

Anyone know how these speakers compare to the AV123 xl-s encore series of speakers? I know these both are ID but has anyone had experience with both? I'm really torn on what to get.

I'm currently looking at buying:
eD A6-6T6 Tower Pair
eD A6-6T6 MTM Single
eD A3-5TC Bookshelf Pair
MFW-15 Sub

Two other quesitons..

Would it be worth it to get a 6T6 MTM for rears instead of the bookshelves?

Would an MFW-15 be to much of an overkill for these speakers? I have a large open floorplan with vaulted ceilings.
I have the 6T6 MTMs for surrounds. They are probably overkill in my room. The 5TCs would have been fine I think in my case. You could always audition the 5TCs on the sides, and if you don't think there's enough sound, move them to the rears for 7.1 setup and get 6T6 MTMs for surrounds.

As for the sub, I don't think the MFW-15 is overkill at all, with or without those speakers. Why wouldn't you stick with eD and get something like the A3-300 or A5-350 instead? If you're using the package builder already, you're going to save 15% on the sub and it sounds great.

Well with the package builder it doesn't allow you to choose to upgrade the amp to the 550 on the A5-350 which I would definitely want. Even if I could somehow upgrade the amp and get the 15% it would be more than the MFW-15. From what i've read most people prefer the MFW-15 slighty over the A5-350. I wonder if I could call eD and have them edit the package to include the upgraded amp and just charge me the extra $$?

That is exactly what they do. When I ordered, Alex called me within 5 minutes to talk over the order, and I added the upgraded amp at that time. They will just tack on the $65 or whatever; same with the hourglass feet upgrade. If they don't call, just place the order and call them. And with the package builder, the A5-350 is $552.50 + $65 = $617.50 shipped. The MFW-15 is $599 (not sure if shipping is included).

Just look at the text at the top of package builder page:

I'm surprised you are looking at eD speakers with an AV123 sub. Most people end up starting the other way around. eD are insanely popular for their subs and that gets people looking at their speakers too. AV123 are popular for their speakers and I believe the MFW-15 is a pretty new product.

While I think eDs probably compare directly with AV123 X series, I think the eDs are a better deal.

For $500 with free shipping they match up to the x-sls plus shipping. This makes the the 6T6 tower an awesome deal. The 6T6 tower is a 3 Way 4 driver tower compared with the x-sls which is a 2 Way 2 driver tower. And I think the 6T6 is MUCH better looking.

The next step up is the x-mtm which is a 3 driver setup. But it's $549 plus shipping, again making the eD a better deal.

Add a sub in, and go through the package builder and you've got a killer deal, in my opinion.

Thats funny u say that, I actually started out looking at the AV123 x-ls speakers and an eD sub like most do. Now i've kind of done a 180 and i've been reading great things about the eD speakers but people are also saying theres MFW-15 has an edge over the A5-350.

I think I might go with the A5-350 and eD speakers after all though. So you prefer the A5-350 over the MFW-15? I know you probably havn't heard both but from what you've read you wouldnt rather have an MFW-15?

he has the a5-350

even though I'm new to HT and never heard of ED before this forums im looking to place my order tomorrow hopefully.

i checked the av123 x sls towers and center and the shipping is $260. I'm not that hardcore HT guy and so far the review and compliments I heard about eD speakers made me choose them.
Hey guys I am able to get the following speaker packages for the same cost. What do you think will sound better? I will be powering everything with an Onkyo TX-SR805. My room size is 15W X 17L X 11H

ED package
A6 - 6T6 Tower pair
A6 - 5T5 MTM Center
A3 - 5TC Bookshelf pair
A3 - 300 Sub

[or]

Infinity Beta package
Beta 40 Tower pair
Beta C250 Center
Beta 10 Bookshelf pair
PS212 Sub

Please let me know what thoughts you have. Thanks,
post #360 of 2079
Crap, now their pages for the towers and 5T5s just say "Backordered" (without the in-stock date).

Is this going to be updated to show they're in stock, or will there be more wait time?
