Hmm, do you have sub=yes? Otherwise I wasn't aware you could set an x-over without a sub. I thought it just grayed it all out, but I could surely be wrong. Have you read the FAQ in the Onkyo 705 thread? It has really useful information about Audyssey. Mine too was set at 150 and I lowered it to 100 or 120 like I said. However, Audyssey will then not EQ anything below the crossover it picked. So, in my case, I'm missing Audyssey EQ below 150 for the 5TCs. If I understand correctly, there is no way to work around this.

No i dont have the sub yet. The mains are grayed out on full band. I cant change that. I can change the xover on the center and surrounds.

Got my new eD 6T6 towers and 6T6 center channel.
Sounds great. Much more bass in the center channel than my old Design Acoustic center channel.

Got all my stuff ordered:
A6-6T6 Towers
A6-6T6-MTM Center
A6-5T5 MTM Surrounds
A5-350 w/ 550 Amp

Ordered the Yamaha RX-V663, should be here monday.

I also just turned on my new Samsung 52" LCD today, with the new PS3 plugged into it... nirvana. Even the wife is absolutely blown away. This is a far cry from the 25" Zenith and Kenwood mini-system we've been running for the past 14 years. I'm so psyched to get the speakers in. Too bad the sub will be so long, but good things are worth waiting for.

Cheers!
Jason

That looks great. I like the Giraffe.

I have a question for eD owners.... how would you describe their sound? Bright? Warm? Are the highs detailed? Lows punchy? Subtle? I'm just trying to get an idea for their sound before I decide since I can't find any A/B comparisons or audition them myself.

thanks.

My friend down the street has the towers hooked up to an Onkyo 605 along with the rest of the eD system. The best I can describe them as is laid back, mellow, and pretty neutral.

You're charged for the full-range stuff when they ship. You're charged for the sub when it moves into production ("Box Under Construction" or something). So, you will not be charged for the MTMs until they are in and ship and not for the sub until they begin building it.

Very laid back, super detailed. The Highs are amazing. My old ininitys were very HARSH with the highs. Not the eD. I can crank these babies up to reference level on a movie, and it's loud, but extremely pleasing. I no longer have a head ache or ear fatigue like I did with the Infinity Speakers that cost 2X the cost of the eD speakers. My buddy has a set of JM Labs fronts and center, that I've loved since he purchased them. Once I received my eDs and listened, I was stunned at how great that sound. My buddy is now thinking of going with eD after we watched Beowulf.

Even during big action scenes, the intelligence of the center speaker is SPECTACULAR. I have yet to hear a speaker in this price range come close to these. For that matter, I haven't heard speakers that cost 2 - 3X the eD cost that are better.

I have to agree on the center. My old center had me struggling to hear dialogue. Not the ED, at any sound level the clarity is awesome.

Edit: Still awaiting woodshop

I just watched Phantom of the Opera in HD-DVD last night (TrueHD). Not a great movie IMHO, but man did it sound good! I had a smile on my face the entire movie. I'm happier and happier with these speakers after every movie I watch!

Hi. Anyone using a 3rd A6 - 6T6 as a center with a flat screen over it or would that put the screen up too high for good viewing?

My 46" is on top of the center and the view from 10 feet away is better IMHO.

Oh, sorry, I meant the A6 - 6T6 tower. I was thinking about using 3 across the front but was wondering if that would put a flat screen too high up.

I'd be more worried about the sound. Center channels have tweeters in the middle. With a tower your tweet is on one end and woofers on the other. May not blend as well. I could be off, but it just doesn't seem ideal to have a tower laid horizontally used as a center. Although, the farther away you are, the less noticeable it would be. The A6-6T6 center sounds awesome.

I was going to run all 3 towers vertical across the front.
Technically, that's the ideal setup as you're using 3 identical LCR speakers. The MTM design is a compromise to create a "better" center, yet not quite "perfect."

Edit: Typically it's preferred to have an acoustically transparent projection screen, as to not have the screen too high up, but if it's no strain on your neck, then mission accomplished, no?

I haven't been to eD's website since I purchases my speakers. My friend is looking to get the setup I have (A6-6T6 Towers and A6-6T6 Center). However, when I go to build this in the Package Builder, I have no selection for the A6-6T6 Center. Is eD not selling this Center any longer, or is this a problem with their web page?
It's not in stock at the moment. If you go to the "full range speakers" page, and select "in stock" from the drop down box, you'll see the towers, 5T5 speakers, and I think the 5TC monitors.

Sidenote: How "musical" are these speakers? (The 6T6 Tower, to be precise)

How's that for a frustrating design thing you didn't realize existed.

I set the inventory to 0 so that it would also tell people in the shopping cart that they weren't in stock currently. Apparently that will automatically remove the item from the package builder.

So, while it now still says backordered and is marked with an in stock date on the web site, I've set inventory levels back above 0 so it is still available in the package builder.

Now to figure out if there's a way around that.

Really like these guys alex was very helpful in changing my orders though it seemed he was mobbed and was juggling 20 different things. There is something wrong with the site though, clicking show only in stock and the update doesnt do anything I almost attempted to buy another out of stock item.

My screen is above my towers and i really like the set up, i only have 2 towers, but i may use a third as the center once i get my basement straightened out. No real neck strain, i guess i prefer it, i like to lean back in my chair and watch, and it is at the perfect level for that.

Hey Chris, any idea of when the Black wall mount pairs will be back in stock? I've tried ordering 1 pair a couple times but @ checkout it always has astricks by it stating that they're not available in the desired quantity.

They might be....stupid inventory levels not getting updated. Every time I try to make the inventory system better I get distracted with silly things....like shipping HT subs.

Give us a call if you need some. I'll try to go count them soon and update it though if we do have 'em.

I went in to build a package for my buddy and it wasn't giving me options for the A6 Tower. I guess I should have peformed a little digging on your site and I would have known why. He heard my eDs this weekend when we were watching I Am Legend and was floored. We watched it on Blu ray with optical digital audio out. It was a great 'sounding' movie, in part to the eDs. My buddy is now sold, he wants what I have....LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The evelopment of the mains are amazing during a movie. The Center continues to be super powerful even during large action scenes.
Ok, I'm definitely sold on getting some ED's....

I was originally going for 7.1, but for my room with a couch against the back wall, I think I'd rather build a solid 5.1 system rather than a slipshod 7.1 system.

So, here's what I'm shooting for:

A6-6T6 Towers for fronts
A6-6T6 MTM center
A6-6T6 MTM surrounds (for logic 7 processing on music)
A5-350 sub with the amplifier upgrade

Here's my question... The A6-6T6 MTM surrounds will need to go onto stands, and the stands need to be about 30" high to get over the side of my couch. It would also be preferable, space-wise, to mount them on the stands sideways (tall-ways).

The 31" sanus stands on their site don't seem to be rated for their size or weight, but I was wondering if anyone has had luck using these stands for these speakers. If not, what would be good stands for the A6-6T6 MTM's, both for normal and sideways mounting? Also, is there anything I should know about mounting these sideways since they are asymmetric? Is there a preffered orientation to have the tweeter?

I can't wait to get these, even though I know I'll have to wait until May, haha. (I wanted to place the order ASAP to get myself on the waiting list)

Thanks for any help!
I have the same setup, but with a 5TC pair for rears. I have the 6T6-MTMs on the eD 24" Sanus stands. I think the stands are rated a couple lbs lower than the speakers but in my case they work fine vertically oriented on the stands (with a 3 year old and a giant, crazy dog). However, the speaker is bigger than the stand top platform so the speaker hangs over the edge all the way around and seems top-heavy on the stand. I haven't looked into other stands (yet), but you might want to look at something with a larger platform and something a bit heavier. Maybe I mean to say "I should" since I have the kid and the dog!
