When I first saw this, I was hoping for a twisted, really horror-filled version of the story.
It started out great with Keanu in bed with vampires and the baby eating part.
But Dracula's hair-don't and clothes reminded me of whacky Aunt Martha.
The rest of the movie kind of dragged for me and wasn't scary or disturbing.
I guess the transfer kind of matches the quality of the movie, jmo.
Ya know Milt, this is just one of those films that I can watch over and over and never get tired of. It has many flaws and I would hardly consider it "great" and not sure who I would even recommend it to. But there are lots of "great" films that seeing one time was enough for me.
It's a film that I love for (some) of the acting, the sets, the costumes, the colors, the time period in which it was set, the score (I've had the cd for many years and the "love theme" is still a current "top rated" on my iPod!), the creativity, the creepiness, the eroticism, the camp, the shocks, and on and on....
I can't really explain it. What's interesting is there is another "minor" FFC film that is also "flawed" yet, I also feel the same way for. I'm wondering if any other of you BSD fans (Dave?) also love...and that would be The Cotton Club.
