Anyone in the greater Sacramento Area....

I had ordered a SVS PB13 Ultra 3 days ago. Well, after calling in and finding out that they are delayed until the end of November I cancelled the order. I am very wary about ordering a sub I have never heard of before.

Now, I am looking at the Epik Conquest which makes me drool at the possiblilty. I did some recent auditioning at Circuit City, Best Buy, and Magnolia (only stores around me that sell audio gear). Needless to say I was very unimpressed.

I am wondering if there are any users here that have either a SVS or Epik sub that you could show off for me I also have looked into E.D. subs but am really focusing on that Conquest. Any thoughts or better yet - demo's would be great!

I'm in Antelope, but I have a +/2, not a U13. Yet!

If you get down to the South Bay, I've got the PB13...you're welcome, but I'm sure there are some closer to you. I think there's a Conquest in norcal, ask on the Epik thread and see if anyone speaks up.

I can guarantee that the SVS will outperform ANY subwoofer that Best Buy, Circuit City, etc will EVER carry.

I would love to be able to get a demo if you don't mind. I actually ordered a PB13 Ultra but cancelled it due to the month delay and the possibilities with the Conquest. One thing that threw me off from SVS was that Erik was trying to push the plus/2 instead of the Ultra saying that he doesn't feel that the Ultra would fill my room but the plus/2 would. The ultra puts out MORE than the plus/2?!?! I feel he was trying to push those because they are overstocked vs the Ultra which is B/O'd.

Unfortunatly, that is too far! I would love to hear it but I work full time and go to school full time.
EDIT: Done...posted on that thread.

I was postive of that before I walked in...I just had a few minutes and figured I would walk in to see what subs are retailing for these days and what price point they are typically charging.

BTW nice Dunder Mifflin tribute.

Dwight: What's the ratio of Stanley nickels to Schrute bucks?
Stanley: The same as the ratio of unichorns to leprechauns.

Hilarious!

I don't have much of a system right now. I have a decent Yamaha receiver and two small Klipsch bookshelf speakers. I'm looking for a good musical sub to begin with, and then later I'll get some bigger speakers for the left/right/front.

Avus, I know there's a Conquest within an hour of you...I just can't volunteer for the owner. You posted on the thread, so hopefully, he'll get back to you.

Regarding the Plus/2 vs PB13. The Plus/2 does exceed the Ultra in native tune (25hz) by 2-3db...can't hang with the Ultra down low, especially in 15hz tune though. It's a great sub and worth the audition. Erik wasn't steering you wrong. In a huge space it's still the best SVS solution other than duals.

That's great news about a local owner! I am gearing this purchase towards HT so I need that down low output. I would really love to hear that Ultra! I know there is a local meet in December here with a Ultra that is supposed to be there but it is from 12 - 5pm on Dec 8th which of course I am working.

I will be at that GTG so I can hear the Ultra as well. I know there will also be dual F113s. I am hoping there will be dual U13s. I haven't heard if there will be other subs. I won't be bringing my +/2 as it will be out of its league, SQ wise. And it is installed upstairs and I ain't moving it again until I sell it. You can't get a Saturday off?

What's "GTG" stand for? Ron I'd love to check out your SVS sometime... I'm always going down to the South Bay, SF, etc for business stuff. I'd also love to participate in the GTG (I know what it is, just not what it stands for).

GTG = get together, I believe, at least that's how I've used it.

PM me when you want to come down, we can sync schedules.

I also use GTG for Get Together, though it should really be GT.
