Dish Network: What Equipment Do I Need?

Hoping to get some help regarding multiple TV's and Dish Network.

Right now I have 4 TV's (two HD receivers and one regular receiver connecting TV 3 and 4).

To get 2 additional TV's running HD what do I need? If TV's 5 and 6 have a built in receiver is that all I would need? Or, do I need a stb for TV's 5 and 6?

Thanks for any help.

You need a STB/receiver for each HD display. I've never heard of any TV with a built-in receiver. I believe you mean built-in ATSC/QAM tuner. Dish's dual-tuner receivers only send NTSC signals via composite, OTA and coax via TV2 whether they are HD capable (722,622,222) or not (625, etc.). You can send a simulcast of TV1 via HDMI or component cables to another TV away from the receiver. However, it will be the same output as the TV next to the receiver. Bottom line is you need more receivers and possibly some more connections off your LNB to feed the additional receivers.

The guys on DBS Talk could probably explain this in better detail than I can.

Not because it has more room on the DVR (you can slap an exetrnal HD on the USB port for archiving) but for the VC-1 chip and the upgraded Broadcom MPEG4 chip.

Most people; even at Dish don't know that if you have the VC-1 in the 722 that "Dish on Demand" ordered programs WILL BE received in HD not SD (yes the 622 is gonna get it in SD). Pony up for the 722.

Why anyone buys the HR20 is beyond me....except the extra HD and the higher elevation of the HD sat launched from Kazikstan. I don't like to have Rx's in EVERY room and get hit with receiver fee's...Plus the HR20 is a dinosaur compared to the 722.

The HR20 has a 199 lease fee as the 622; and the 622 whoops all over the HR20.

Howard Hughes was a genius...but Echostar is taking Direct to task...

"I believe you mean built-in ATSC/QAM tuner"

Yes, that's what I was trying to say. Thanks. Appreciate the information from both of you. So I guess I need to look into getting a receiver for the additional TV.

Thanks.

Well, actually there have been a few TV's with built-in DirecTV tuners. But not Dish.
