Did They Just Dropped Prices ($13.50) On Older HD DVD Titles ?

Not sure if this has ben posted. Mod please feel free to delete it if it's old news.

I went to my local Frys (Alpharetta store) today and noticed that some older titles are priced at $13.50. These have the permanent white price sticker on them. So it seems they're a permanent new price, not a sale price. Some of the titles that I can remember I saw at this price were:

Top Gun
Black Rain
Aeon Flux
Sahara (BD has it for $19.99)
The Untouchable
Tomb Raider

This doesn't seem to be a computer glitch similar to the ones at CC recently.

Hey! I shop at the Alpharetta Frys, too Actually, I believe last week they started a big sale on select Paramount titles (I picked up Sleepy Hallow for cheap there last weekend). There is another thread in here somewhere with the details.

But when the have a sale, it's still stickered at $19.99 and you get the discount at the register though. Today, I saw those stickered at $13.50

Yes but is it a sale or a permanent markdown? When Frys has a sale, the sticker shows regular price and the discount is taken at the register terminal.

What I saw was that the sticker is priced at 13.50

I go to that Frys, too...well, whenever I feel like driving an hour just to pick up some DVDs or speakers. We need another Frys.

That's a continuation of last week's Paramount catalog sale! They're restocking, too.

I'm impressed. They ran out of The Italian Job last Friday at the Austin store and had it restocked on Tuesday.

First, Warner, then Paramount. I'm hoping for Universal and Weinstein, next!

Anyone know if this sale is still on at the Indianapolis store?

Well... next Tuesday I'll stop by the store and see if those price tags are still 13.50. If the are then that's a permanent price reduction because Frs sales normally last through the weekend only.

Have any of you actually bought any of these titles for $13.50 this week? I wonder if some were marked down for the sale a week ago and if they will appear at the check-out for $13.50 now or not.
Everyone seems to have lowered the price on Top Gun pretty fast considering it wasn't released that long ago.

I just bought a couple more Paramount titles at Fry's yesterday at 13.50 each, so it should still work for you too.

I hate that there isn't a Fry's anywhere remotely near this part of the country.
I'll pick up the Warriors for that price, if they have it in Tempe.

Unfortunately Fry's shipping to Ohio is pricey (that and tax added, too - ouch!). Otherwise I'd buy much more from Fry's.

Hmmn, the prices do extend to the website.

Here is a quick question, on the best of HD DVD sets, are they cased separately and just placed inside of a cardboard box, or does it have some special casing? I ask because they have a pretty good deal on their website and I am tempted to get two of them.

Thanks for the heads up I was thinking of picking up a few of them from frys.
We should lobby frys and try and get one in Ohio.

Is the Top Gun transfer good.

And is the TrueHD really as good as the reviews say?
For some reason I dont believe it. But at that price I might as well find out for myself.

Apparently the video quality is solid but some people have complained about it being a little bit misframed. There is another thread in this forum regarding that.
