Does the Pioneer PRO150FD do Deep color and x.v. color?

I was just wondering if there was any information to back up the claims that Pioneer KUROS will do deep color and x.v. color. The sales people at Pioneer claim it will but there is no documentation to back it up. Also what is the bit rate processing of these TVs?

Yes it does, but does it really matter. NO SOURCE will have it besides a few games.

It's all over the place. Deep color and/or x.v color (Sony jargon) isn't in the ATSC spec, BD spec, or HD DVD spec.

You will first see Deep color in computer games. Next PS3 and perhaps Xbox360 games.

If you really want to see x.v. color now, get a Sony HD camcorder.

On page 72 of the 110FD / 150FD operating instructions:

"Deep Color supported
Deep Color means the color depth that describes the number of
bits used to represent the color of a single pixel in a bitmapped
image. Besides the conventional RGB/YCbCr16 bit/20 bit/24 bit
signals, the plasma display also supports RGB/YCbCr30 bit/36 bit
signals. This enables finer, minute color reproduction when a
device that supports Deep Color signals is connected to the
plasma display. When Deep Color signals are received, the color
depth appears on the channel display."

It is silent as to what happens in regard to xvycc.

D-Nice, I did not know Sony's camcorders records in X.V. advance color saturation. What model(s) do you like? I'm looking for a good HD camcorder and am close to buying a Canon or JVC.

My understanding is that any display supporting X.V. would have the advanced color benefit from any source.

Consumer or prosumer?

Not true. The source has to be encoded with xvYCC. Trying to create xvYCC from a non xvYCC source will be a mess.

Robert, go with the Canon HV20. We just got back from visiting our son at Binghamton Univ and on the way and back, shot some HD fall foliage. If you saw the colors from the HV20's HD picture on the Pioneer, you wouldn't worry about 'deep color'. Colors any 'deeper' than this wouldn't look real!

Canon Vixia HF20/200 produces x.v. color and works amazing on Pioneer Kuro Elite Pro 150 even in non x.v. color
