RXV-2700 Audio Capabilities?

Hmm..

Dumb question here,

The rxv2700 does not do dolby true hd or DD+ or dts hdma ?

you can only get these if your player decodes for you and you hook them up via 5.1 analog output from player to mult in to reciever?

This would mean that you wouldn't get these audio formats from your ps3?

Am I correct?

My PS3 decodes these formats and sends the digital signal decoded via the HDMI cable for the 2700 to convert to analog.

The decoder can be in the source (1700/2700 take MPCM) or receiver (1800/3800).

The result is the same, lossless audio all the way to the D/A decoders in the processor.

Would I have to configure my ps3 set to pcm ?

I think it's either pcm or bitstream..

The RXv 2700 is already over 1 year old and is HDMI 1.2a..
HDMI 1.2a means the audio decoding must be done in the optical player or PS 3 and multi-channel PCM is sent to the 2700. This is a good solution but has been superceded by HDMI 1.3b.

To decode the native HD audio streams within the AVR, in future one needs to have HDMI 1.3. The newer models RXV-1800 & RXV-2800 include this capability.
