Does it worry any of you to read on the Blu-Ray player forum about freeze ups with the BD-1400 on certain discs after firmware upgrades? It's not just Blu-Ray, I guess right now some Toshiba models are having problems outputting 1080P/24 after an upgrade.
I'm just frustrated and venting a little because it's nearly the 3rd gen. for both formats, and still we have these issues. I read these forums sometimes and my head spins: What "profile" will this or that player be, can it decode this or that audio format, and the answer seems to be "Well, not now, but an upgrade is in the works."
I guess my point is this: I'm willing to plunk down the $799 for a BD-UP5000 - and I guess I have to pray it works right out of the box, or wait for an "Upgrade" that may or may not work properly. It's just amazing to me that we as consumers have come to accept this.
