What about A Clockwork Orange?

It's been ominously quiet here about "A Clockwork Orange." A few negative reviews here and there but no major feedback about this important Kubrick film. Any comments? I notice HD REview has managed to review a "Chucky" film but not A Clockwork Orange (they've reviewed Kubrick's other releases). Don't tell me this is a stinker (one of my all time favorites).

Mine's still in transit from Amazon. It's probably not got the "wow" factor of the other Kubrick disks but I'm sure it looks great, certainly compared to the DVD.

I got it from Blockbuster Online. Fantastic movie but the picture is very soft and some actually seems to be slightly out of focus. Still worth the upgrade though.

Amazon flaked on my Kubrick pre-orders as well, but at least I got them this week (so much for Prime...). Anyway....

I only managed to watch about twenty minutes or so, but it looked pretty damned good, considering. I mainly noticed softness in shots where a really wide angle lens was obviously used, so the lens was probably soft to begin with (a shame really, because those are the shots where you'd like a bit more detail: the final shot in the theater as sirens draw near, the establishing shot inside The Duke of New York). I also thought I was able to see chromatic aberration in some of the shots (also a product of the lens used), but I don't remember which shots specifically.

I have it on Blu-ray, but I'm assuming it's identical to the HD-DVD version(aside from the latter coming with 2 discs instead of 1).

I thought the transfer was underwhelming. Not as disappointing as Eyes Wide Shut, but I'd rank it 4th among the Kubrick movies released last week in terms of picture quality. The audio was pretty weak as well, but it was originally in mono so what can you really expect?

I'd still recommend picking it up though if you're a fan. It probably looks as good as it can given the source material. And it's also the first time we have an anamorphic release of this film. That alone is reason enough to upgrade.

I think its worth the upgrade. Plus it's got some good extras. The picture wasn't perfect, but the other Kubrick movies weren't either. The sound was never appealing to me. Too much electronic music.

Got it from Netflix. PQ nothing to write home about and for me, it's one that I don't want to watch again anytime soon.

True ,compared to other HDM but I think this is another example of taking what a high quality reproduction of a film that wasn't sharp to start with and expecting a videogame. I would never use this to show off my system for sure but saying that the transfer was poor is something I'd like to see evidence of.
