Surround speaker mounting & wiring Q

I'm considering going with a 5.0 HT setup. I live in an apartment, so no sub and no custom in-wall wiring. My front mains and center are more than capable of providing all the bass I need (or can get away with). The surround speakers must be mounted on the walls, providing for optimal placement (surrounds on stands won't work due to apt design), which I think I can pull off with no problems. Here's the deal: I don't want visible wires running all over the place. My questions (in order of importance):

1. How could I best hide/mask surround speaker wires along the floor and up the walls?

2. Would a direct reflecting or dipole surround be a better choice for surrounds? I have DR surrounds, but the dipole design looks a little sleeker and more natural as opposed to square boxes hanging off the walls. If dipoles aren't that great, then I guess I'll just have to deal with the boxes.

3. This might best left for another thread, but are there any acoustic tricks to 'contain' the sound within the apt due to it's dynamic nature, aside from keeping the volume extraordinarily low?

You're not going to do much in the way of isolation without construction - sorry.

IMO, in an apartment, a sub can be a benefit. You can place the sub close to the seating to get the bass you want while keeping overall level a bit lower to not annoy the neighbors. Not an optimal solution but workable in an apartment.

To hide wiring, you can get stick on surface mount conduit for along the baseboards.

In my apartment I wedged all the wires under the base boards and used wire wires to match the walls. No one ever notices them. There are also these like wire looms at Lowes that you can purchase to hide the wire and paint to match the walls if necessary.

Would anyone have some pics or links to these conduits or looms? I'm not sure what you're describing. Would a flat speaker wire painted to match be of any value? I really appreciate the help!

depending on your skill level, and willingness to take risk, labor saving devices has a piece that drills under the baseboard and into the wall, if you have carpet, and it also comes with a fish tape. if you were willing to reconsider custom in wall wiring
