Since the release is about a week away, I thought I'd start a new thread (now that the old one is locked). Please try and keep this one on topic.

Release Date: November 5, 2007

That video review contains spoilers.

OXM gave it 10/10, OXM UK gave it a 9/10.

It does contain one spoiler, sort of, but it's from the same level IW has been using to show off the game for the past 6 months, so I don't think it's really that big of a deal. But you might want to add a disclaimer.

This game looks incredible. I wish there were some midnight releases happening on Monday next week, but I'm not holding my breath that anyone is doing it.

I can't wait for this game! I've been looking for another game to play online other than RB6. Finally it looks like this could be another one I'll enjoy. Graphics look amazing on this one.

Warhawk is taking up most of my gaming time, so I can't decide whether I should by this game on release day or not. Anyone else have this same dilema?

Two totally different styles of games in my opinion. Warhawk is a "party shooter," whereas COD4 is ultra-realistic. I love me some Warhawk, but COD4 is CERTAINLY a day of release purchase for me, which means I have one week to finish Ratchet and Clank...LOL!

I pre-ordered, so I will see you there.

I dont know but to me it just feel a lot like CoD2 set in modern time, from what I got from the PC demo. It looks like a pretty cool game but I just dont see the greatness or anything different except the setting of the game. Maybe the whole game overall is better than the demo but I wasnt felling it. Crysis on the other hand definately kicks a$$. If that doesnt come out for the consoles in any form, its gonna suck, since my pc can barely handle it only at low settings, between 15-30 frames.

link just takes you to user videos... did they take it down?

It wasn't an official Gametrailers review.

Oh.

Yes.

Now I just need to figure out how to leave work ASAP - more screenies to follow!

Could you post pics of the back of the box? Or just let us know what resolutions it lists as supported.

I'm stoked about this game too. Here in NC the Gamestop DMs are flying to the UPS station to pick up the game and drive them back on Monday the 5th to be sold the same day. I guess the game has to be pre ordered to take advantage of the early release. If you're in the Myrtle beach, Brunswick county, or Wilmington areas call EB/Gamestop/Babbages for details.

The R6V group from AVS started a new website for game scheduling and smack talk within our group. Please feel free to drop by and get acquainted. We're a non competitive clan just looking to have fun with other mature gamers. Check us out at The Weekend Warriors Clan.

Just registered over there. Yakuza added me to the GRAW2 clan but I never got the details of who was in and all that since I haven't ever replaced my Vegas disc that cracked! Looking forward to this game!!

I just hope it's as good as the PC version guys, because that version looks great. I can't wait to play the multiplayer version. Unfortunately the PS3/360 multiplayer version is limited to a certain # of players (I think 32 total), and the PC version is only limited by your bandwidth, so I will definitely go for the PC version for that reason alone.

I'm afraid that the console versions multiplayer won't run as well due to lag. I'll probably pick up the ps3 version because that's what my friends will be playing on. If it wasn't for that, I'd definately pick up the pc version for the mouse support & dedicated servers run on fast connection (hosted by individuals).

There's really no reason to believe that the console versions won't run well online. Every report I've read has been the contrary - that it runs quite well. Insomniac proved with Resistance that a console shooter can run online with 32 players smooth as butter. Infinity Ward is easily in the same development tier with Insomniac so I have no reason to believe it won't run beautifully.

40 players smooth as butter on Resistance 32 on Warhaw

Main difference is that we know resistance is using worldwide dedicated servers (thanks to sony). I kinda doubt IW will do the same. It'll probably be P2P like most of the 3rd party games.

True. I think dedicated servers should be required now for all games. This is one way Sony could easily break ahead is if they guaranteed smooth online play for ALL titles by having dedicated servers ready to roll for everything.

Then you'd have to pay for the service like XBOX Live. Another disadvantage would be that PSN wouldn't be an open network and allow for user mods like is planned with a game like UT3.

That said, there was an interview with the developers of COD4 on Gametrailers and I know they said the PS3/360 version online play was limited to either 32 or 64 players total, I don't remember which, and PC was unlimited depending upon bandwidth.
