pioneer 608:need help with hooking up a turntable to it.

I have a friend who has a Pioneer 608. He wants to hook up a turn table to it but there is no phono in. Is there any thing he can do that would allow him to do so? He has lots of old records that he would like to play on his current system.

Thank you,

Joe, he needs to buy an outboard phono preamp that empties into one of the receiver's inputs. You might find them online someplace like audioadvisor.com . I know Rotel makes them, or did, surely they stille do. I've seen one by Creek too.I think he can expect to pay $100 to $250 for one, new. He could search e-bay for a used one, maybe? Best wishes!

Thank you Rachael for the answer I will tell him today. He is trying to keep his expenditures to a minimum so he may just give up on the idea.

the creek phono is great but the pioneer with convert the signal to digital to play it so basically you wont get lp quality.....you need a rec or pre/pro with analog bypass or a seperate analog setup...
