The Buffalo Bills fall off the all HD list this week with their game being in SD. 16 teams remain on the all HD list. Buffalo's last SD game was week 17 of the 2006 season. 6 of the 16 teams that have had all their games in HD are in the AFC, at this point last year only 2 AFC teams were at 100% HD. 7 NFC teams were all HD at this point last year.

All but one team (Cleveland) have had 75% of their games in HD so far this year.

Love the listing on the CBS late game map...

New England @ some other team

Just to summarize my thoughts on other threads, CBS is doing the right thing in taking borderline markets and switching them to NE/Indy instead of going with the usual "local game," in this case Hou/Oak.

Generally, if given the choice, SB, SLO, and LA CBS stations will show the Raiders over other teams. However, this is a rare instance where this is not the case.

Don't forget J.P. Kirby (creator of the NFL maps shown here) is a huge Patriots fan

Just in case you can't get enough Patriots / Colts this week, NFL Network will be running 36.5 hours of Patriots and Colts programming between today and Sunday. 34 of those hours will be in HD.

This game is so big and requires so much hype the NFL has conveniently scheduled the end of Daylight Savings time this weekend so viewers can get an extra hour of pregame hype.

Good one.
Let's hope the game lives up to the hype.

I actually would have never realized that fact, until I read the NFL Network Press Release.

What's the point of putting the Raiders-Houston in HD if it will be blacked out in the Bay Area? My guess for non HD of Cincy-Buffalo is that its a 1pm EST start and less bandwith available than for the late games.

Good thing I have Sunday Ticket so it doesn't matter if the Raiders sell out, still get to watch Colts-Pats.

Can Sunday Ticket manage 10 HD games at once?

That might be a factor.

(I honestly haven't paid much attention to how many games are on Sunday Ticket at one time - as DirecTV isn't even an option where I live)

Another probable scenario: OAK does not sellout and is blacked-out in the SF Bay Area.....
Will CBS then feed the Bay Area the NE/Indy game???

I highly doubt Sunday Ticket in HD is any concern when scheduling games.

Networks like to have a backup game in place in case something happens, that would delay or postpone a game. Very rarely does the NFL ever schedule only 1 game on a network at a time.

Also the raiders can not play at home at 1 PM, they have to play at 4.

As the first post says, "all times eastern"

I've always wondered why that is... I don't think attending a 10am game is that much of a stretch for us West Coasters. Any arguments to the contrary?

9 is all I can find as well. They have been using up to 7 this year and in previous years 9 would have covered all the Sunday afternoon games that were in HD. So the max would have been 9.

Being on the east coast I can't speak for those at west but I would not want to attend a 10am game. I have attended a number of noon college games and a few 12:30 ET NFL games (Lions always play at 12:30 on Thanksgiving), and I would not want those games to start any earlier for pregame and tailgating reasons.

Also some states do not allow alcohol sales before noon on Sundays, meaning the teams would lose a lot of money from morning kickoffs.

Yes! As a long-time Raiders season-ticket holder, the tailgate parties are almost as much a part of the day's events as the game itself (especially these days ). In Oakland, parking lot gates open 5 hours prior to game time. Unless you have VIP parking passes, you have to be there shortly after the gates open or you will not make it in the lots at all. With a 10am start, that would mean being at the gates at 5-6am for a big game! Add an hour's commute (for me), and we're talking a wake-up time of ~3am!
Can we please stick to 1pm?

Hooray!! Living in SoCal and we get NE at Indy! I would have bet 3 bucks that we would be forced to endure the Raiders once again.
Sacramento is getting the NE/Indy game not the Oakland game, regardless of an Oakland sellout.

Don't forget...

Maps are usually based on initial information that doesn't get updated until later in the week...

Things can change (more of California will probably switch away from the Raiders)

It appears they would have to since they are the DH network and the 49ers have an early game on FOX. NFL TV rules state that each market has to get an early and late game. So if the Raiders get blacked out it seems to me that KPIX would have to show NE @ Indy by default. They would however not be allowed to show an early game.

Thanks for that info!
I have an email in to KPIX now asking them that very question.
I'll post here if/when I hear back from them.

I'm a bit confused on the blackout rules. If Sacremento is getting the NE game reguardless of a sellout in Oakland, why wouldn't say Portland, ME get the Oakland game reguardless of a sellout in Foxboro?

Sacramento has no requirement to show Oakland home games (so the sellout comment is a bit misleading) - it only has to show road games....
So they can (technically) show whatever game they want as long as the Raiders are at home.

If the game was not sold out - then they are actually not allowed to show the Raiders, as the Sacramento TV market falls within 75 miles of the Raiders stadium.

I'm not sure I follow the rest of what you are asking... Why in the world would Maine get the Raiders game?

You are correct we are within the 75 mile boundary, I was pointing out that our local affiliate has already decided to show the NE/Indy before the Thursday sellout deadline.

It's not really misleading, while they might have the ability to not show home Raider games, this is the first time in recent memory (if ever) that the local affiliate has made the decision to not show a Raider game. Sacramento has a huge rabid Raiders fan base, so there would have to be an extraordinary game to show in place of the Raiders.

Whether or not its a sellout is 100% meaningless.

They don't have to show the Raiders home game if they dont' want to.

(and this is no 'ordinary game')

And, I think that will be changing for the Browns. As long as they play good football, and the offense keeps scoring points, they will be a fun team to watch...
