A pair of Salk Sound SongTowers are now on order. Jim and I had a very nice chat, and it is all settled.

what Nuance said

some of the comments on the audio circles forums would have you believe those things were crafted from the gods , or at least for them

The BP10's won't do well against the ID brands.

Can someone post Craigs Bookshelf thread link?

Sure. Here is the original thread and here is the link to the article written about the bookshelf shootout.

Craig, any chance you will have the Salk's by the time I get there?

Craig, I am trilled to see that! Glad to see some things have changed for Jim and that he is now able to participate. I hope you get ALOT of snow this winter so you cannot do anything but test speakers!!

I will be doing some comparisions with the Dana 980's (when available) with my Dali Helicon 400's. I will post my thoughts and anybody else who stops by to listen.

I'll also reiterate my vote for Paradigm Studio 60's.

Agree...LSi15s are arguably their best modern speaker...be interesting to see it compares.

I'm looking forward to your review of the SongTowers!

I can't wait to see the results of this I have been itching to buy new floorstanders and paradigm monitors and studio are on my list. I would love to hear what more educated people think. It also may give me a few more to check out.

Looking forward to this thread Craig.

Well, I would like to see the reference line included seeing how I just purchased some. I was very impressed with the RC-10's compared to the Ascend 340 classics that I own, so impressed I went out and got the RC-70's. Those retail for $2000 so they go past your budget. Though I'm sure you can get them on sale here and there, the $1500 mark is exceeded. However, I know you can get the RC-30's in the US for much less than $1500, and I believe the RC-50's would be right around there.

Too bad you're not a big fan, your name sake band's Hotel California in DVD-Audio sounds just fantastic with my Energy's!

Craig - thanks for starting this up as promised. Looking forward to all the impressions and feedback with all the speakers you get a chance to have participate in the shootout. I just hope it doesn't get in the way of the additional sub's you'll have coming your way soon.

I'd like to third (or fourth?) the suggestion for something from the Energy RC-series. I'm fairly certain you can find the RC-50's or maybe even the RC-70's for under budget. I'd love to know how they stack up to the competition

Sure. Here is the original thread and here is the link to the article written about the bookshelf shootout.

Will any new article written about the upcoming shoot-out also include winners of each head to head like the linked article did?
I would like to see the B&W 683s in the mix!! Considering they have the FST midrange and nautilus loaded tweeter similar to the 800 series, and list for 1400 a pair, they are an outstanding value. I am surprised they haven't already been mentioned.
Craig, was the budget lowered? Originally I thought it was $2000/pair?
Glad to see axiom included this time, there seems to be an absence of interest about them on this forum...

Craig, would you review the SVS MTS-01 when it comes out?

The Kef iQ9 and SVS Towers ... will definitely get consideration.
Craig, what about the Dali Ikon 6 or Ikon 7?
Thank you Craig. You know I was about to ask you if you would review speakers, but it seems like my dream has come true.

Suggestions for future speakers are welcome ... with these general guidlines

1. They must be readily available for under $1500 per pair
2. They must have a matching center channel and surrounds available.
3. They must have wide distribution.
4. The must be true floorstanders.

This is just the thread I've been looking for!!!

Would you consider adding x-MTM and Aperion 533T?
I was going to suggest the B&W CM7's, but they're $1700/pair.

Aperion does not wish to participate, and I already have buyers for a pair of 760's, 850's and the Salk SongTowers (if I decide to sell them).

That definitely helps with purchasing additional speakers. My wife is pretty patient, but she does "overload" sometimes.

I second the vote for B&W 683's!

I really don't need to see the results. The Def Techs will be the hands-down winner (as they always will regardless of what other speakers appear on the list.)

I think it's safe to say that you and I, of all the A/V nuts, have the best wives on the planet!

That's true, but you are "trolling" and/or "flaming." Any time someone mentions a speaker that you own or have owned, that speaker automatically becomes the best speaker and is followed by a silly remark similar to this: "I just can't possibly imagine any speaker in any price category sounding better than my______" - fill in the blank as you have said it regarding many speakers. Please stop, Pulliamm.
