Of special note is I built this setup within a server chassis I obtained for $79.00. I find pricing ridiculous on the off the shelf HTPC cases when most of them are simply towers thrown on their sides with minor mods. And of course they double / triple the price. I don't recommend a newb tackling their first HTPC using a server chasis, as there was a lot of blood, sweat, and beers.. I mean tears to tackle the metal mods. But for those that don't mind the extra work, it can be quite rewarding... and you'll save a buck or two.

First pic is the original case...

Second shot is the mod'd front with the IMON Media Bay. ( luv it! ) There's a P4 3G oc'd to 3.4 in there, top right is a trayless - removable Hard drive setup I use to back up and transfer movies when my main server in the other room isn't on. I have one removable tray in each of my PC's which is great for transferring 20G + files.

Third is the overall system view. I have a little 100 Watt 5.1 setup which does justice in the confines of the bedroom.

Since I just got engaged I have to pay off the ring before I spend any more $$ on my addictive electronical fixes.. but I will probably rebuild the HTPC in the main room with a server chassis and throw a touch screen in it. Have to time it once the ring's paid off and before the actual marriage! LOL

Keep the systems coming.. hopefully in my dream house I'll have a complete room full of pics to throw up for my home theater!

danxmanly,
Good to see how your using the case. I'm in the midst of building a HTPC, and was able to pick up one of these cases that was collecting dust here at work. The one big mod I was going to do was that it has a hole for an old AT style keyboard connector. I was going to modify it by installing a USB-UIRT in its place, with the receiver in-line with the hole. I was also able to locate some nice feet for it to help make it look more like a peice of audio equipment for cheap. Here's the thread I started on that subject: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=993739

Gotta say...these suckers are heavy.

Good to see other's thinking out of the norm.

*EDIT*
Close-up pics or your IMON mod would be great to see.

Updated my NSK-2480...

Specs are:

- Antec NSK2480
- GIGABYTE GA-945GCM-S2C
- Core2Duo E4500 w/ Scythe Ninja Mini
- Mushkin 2 x 1GB DDR2 RAM (PC5300)
- EVGA 9600GT SC
- Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600 MCE
- LG GGC-H20L
- Seagate Scorpio 2.5" 160GB HDD
- Enermax Liberty 500w
- 2x Noctua NF-P12
- Samsung 32" 720P LCD HDTV
- Vista Home Premium

The LG drive looks out of place, so I ordered a stealth bay from the P160 that should completely hide the bay. It didn't fit as well as I hoped, so now my next step is to dye the front panel black.

Believe it or not, but the Noctua fans are the loudest things in my case, regardless of fan speed.

Mine still working great, Karaoke with VCD still generates a lot of funs. Laser discs are gone.
With this set up, I can play Wii, Karaoke, Music, Movie, browsing the web, TV. This becomes the party room in the economic crisis. Cheers
