19 on hand for a special sale in MIAMI?????? Talk about dropping the ball.

thats the whole point of a (early) black friday sale, to get people to the store for few cheap hot ticket items. Obviously the plan worked. I didn't even bother checking mine, people still stand out over 48hours for a Wii around here.

Hudson, NH: I arrived at about 7:40AM and noticed on the door that the store opens at 6:00AM. I walked by the customer service desk and there were several women working but no one in line. I went and looked around the electronics department where there were three workers and three or four shoppers walking around. I overheard one employee say: "This will be our first test of the season. They gave us absolutely no warning." I looked around for five or six minutes and then asked one of the workers where the HD-DVD players would be. She said they'd be at the customer service desk and that tickets were being handed out.

Back at the customer service desk, there were five or six people ahead of me in line. Three or four more showed up behind me. After waiting maybe three minutes, a Wal-Mart worker walked by and said: "All the tickets for the HD-DVD players have been handed out." A couple of guys behind me and I walked out.

I suspect they were sold out shortly after 6:00AM. I would have been there when the doors opened, but the store hours listed on the website were unclear.

Got mine! Along with The Big Lebowski

Went to the WalMart in Macedon, NY. They had about 20 on display. There were at least 6 other people getting one. My buddy from work went with me and picked on up for his daughter as well.

Don't let the lines throw you off, they had one line for the TV, HD DVD player, HD DVD movies, and Laptop at my store.

Most were there for the laptops, only 4 people behind me in line and 14 players left. They started with 20 and I did not get one (I was there for movies)

At the Miami store, of the 100 or so people in line, about 40 wanted the plasma, and at least 40 were there for the HD-DVD player.

Walmart in Sterling, VA. They didn't know what time the sale was supposed to start. Walked in at 7:00 as they were unloading the palette and picked up 3. Could've picked up 30 if I wanted to. Sold out by 7:30. People crying and bitching by 7:35.

Received message this morning from my brother at 7:50AM to go to Walmart and pick up DVD player. I arrived at Wally World at 7:55AM, casually walked to the back of the store where about 6 people were waiting (4 for the computer and 2 for the DVD player). I walked to the manager and asked about the dvd player who said that he was just bringing them out and will begin to sell them at 8AM. I told him I would like one also and he went to the back and brought one to the register (They had 30 of them). I paid and left the parking lot by 8:05AM. IT WILL NEVER GET ANY EASIER.
Thanks Bro!

My wife is the first of only two customers in line at 7am, in Union City, TN. She said they only had six left after the employees picked over them. I don't know how many they started with, but do employees usually get first pick? There could be more A2's in back that she is not seeing.

Walked in to Walmart at 7:00 hoping they were selling early and had some left. This was in Prairiville, LA...I had to wrok at 8 so I thought there was no chance, but they were selling. Picked it up and walked out.

I'm still hoping Blu Ray wins(only because of capacity), but I could not pass on this price and at least now I won't have to care about exclusive(since I already have a PS3).

Woke up late. Doh.

Went by Wal-Mart in Knoxville, TN around 8:30 and they still had about 15 or so left. Purchased my one, and I was out. There was hardly anyone there. The lady who checked me out said everyone was there at 8 AM for the $300 laptop.

Avon MA

They had like 20 on 2 separate shelves, myself and another guy bought 2 each, and I saw some lady buy 1.
At 8:00, they still had at LEAST 12 on the shelves.

Works like a charm!!

Sweeeeet!

Thanks to AVS for helping me keep tabs on deals like this!

Looks like my family is an HD-DVD family! I even picked one up for my dad and he was thrilled...these make great Christmas presents.

They handed out tickets to twelve people for nine players at the local spot here in a Minneapolis suburb. Tickets were handed out at an undisclosed time.

Lame.

That one's a few blocks from my job, the one I got mine from was the one on Kendall drive, it sold out also, but the line was nowhere near as big as 100 people, I heard they had to give out tickets at the Super Walmart in Homestead, wouldn't be surprised if it sold out also.

Got one. Will try to pricematch the one I purchased from CC earlier this week. If it works and I get the %110 price match I would have gotten 2 for less than the cost of 2 at WM. Here's hoping.

In West Lafayette, there were about 40 units in the stack and only 5 people waiting at 8:00 am. There was a limit of one per customer. I was happy to get mine--I now have an HD source for all 3 HT setups.

Woot! Just picked mine up! They had 30 in stock and was sold out in 15-20 min's....I was # 2 in line. Also picked up Blood Diamond, Batman Begins and 4 Brothers. Can't wait to hook this bad boy up.....anyone want an almost brand new Sony Upconverting DVD player?

Walmart in Leesburg, VA - Had exactly 10, handed out tickets @ 7:30AM and refused to sell until exactly 8:00AM. All laptops and DVD players were sold at the Customer Service center. Since that's right by the front door, a lot of people left very unhappy when they got in line immediately without getting a ticket first since they showed up too late.

Also, 32 laptops, and they would only allow 1 per customer for both the DVD and laptops.
Went to my WM shortly before 8am. No A2's in sight. There were people waiting in the electronics area discussing the laptop that is part of the deal. Don't know what's up.

got mine too. I went to the danvers,MA walmart. there where about 8 guys waiting when they opened the door. they only had about dozen players. all gone before I left.
