Scored one in Phoenix, AZ at 6:05. Four other people were there purchasing the same. Don't know how many they had, they had to retrieve them from the back.

Just got back with my Made in China A2. Got to the store right at 8 and was about 15th in line at the layaway counter. The two guys in front of me (one a Walmart employee from another store) wanted the DVD player. Everybody else seemed to be there for the laptop. I only saw one A2 go out before the three of us got to the register. They had a sign saying there were 22 players in stock for the sale. They also still had all 3 of the 50" Plasmas in stock and were really trying to sell them. "You need a Plasma TV to hook that player to, don't you?"

I also picked up the laptop on a whim. A couple of friends of mine are looking for a cheap laptop just to surf with. I'm a Mac guy but I figured I can always return it if nobody wants it.

They had 14 copies each of "Blood Diamond", "12 Monkeys" and "The Big Lebowski". Picked up TBL to have something to play until the HD-DVD kicks in on my Netflix account.

All in all I put 45 minutes into this. Glad I couldn't get my CC coupon to work last weekend and decided to wait as see what happened with prices.

Coon Rapids, MN had 10 A2s and 30 notebooks. I was first in line at 5:45 am. By 7:30 only about 10 people in line. By 8:45 there about 20. I think 10 or 11 wanted the A2, the rest wanted the notebook.

Reading, MA - Left for work early today to stop by and see how the line was on my way. I got there at about 7:30. They were handing out tears of paper which read "DVD #1, 2, 3, etc." on them. I was number 5. They only had 9 total. The most desired item seemed to be the laptop. I was in and out in 35 minutes, which is good because I really dislike being in that store.

No $14.99 movies.

Hudson, NH - Called my roomate, he headed up to NH. Got there right around 8. They were out of tickets, but he waited around. They had extras, so he got his also. This location had about 30 according to him.

25 A2's at my local Walmart in Brandon, FL. They were on a pallet in an isle of the electronics dept. I got their at 8:00am on the dot and after 15 minutes there were 6 players left. I went there just to get Sleepy Hollow and Alexander Revisited for $14.96 but they didn't have any . I just ended up buying The Mummy and Mummy Returns for $18-$19 each.

Got mine in Orlando. I arrived at 6:30 and was 15th in line. By the time 8:00 rolled around there were about 60 people in line. Got the laptop for my son but was limited to only 1 A2. I wanted a few for friends but they only let me have one. At least I got mine. Anyone interested in a A1 in excellent condition?

15 A2s in walmart lake city fl

I returned and re-bought the A2 I had picked up last night. Great deal. I didn't go back to electronics to check, but someone stopped me on the way to the customer service desk because they wanted to buy mine. It didn't look like anyone was aware of the sale.

I went to the Walmart in Garland, TX (Broadway @ I30) and picked up an A2 for my parents. There was a small line when I got there a little after 8. I could not believe how many people bought the Toshiba. Thought most people would be there for the lap top. I thought they were going to run out after about 10 people in front of me bought the Toshiba but then they wheeled out another cart full of them. When I left the line was gone and there was still a huge stack of them. Maybe even more in the back.

Picked one up this morning in Richmond VA at the WalMart near Short Pump Mall, they had 25, all gone now.

I've learned though bitter experience that cheaper is never better. Why would you even WANT to buy something from Walmart anyway?

Didn't go back for it because several of the line dwellers chased after us because of the prank and then broke off the chase once they realized my friend fumbled and left the A2 on the ground. At least I still have my A2. Hah!

You can't be serious...Sounds like "Natural Selection" at it's finest!

I bought two this morning, they had a limit of one so I had to go by two different stores. Both had over a dozen on a cart at 8:30am

Whew-that was fun. I got to my local non super Walmart about 7:15 and was the forth in line. Everbody was civil and we chatted. I knew the guys in line were there for the Toshibas, but the ladies in front of me who were talking about the laptop suprised me.
The first one grabbed two and the one in front of me took one; the guy behind me took two, and the one behind him took 3. The whole pallet load was gone within 10 minutes. My gut feeling is that this happend nationally.

We all left the store saying we can't wait to see what's on next weeks "secret sale."

Anyone who professed that the average Joe would pass on this was way off base. All the typical consumers I saw todays were fully aware of what this was and how good a bargain it is.

Just picked up 2 players from the Katy, TX store on Fry Rd
There were 24 total on display
I was able to purchase it before 8am by going through the self checkout
There was no one there when I got there and they didn't look like they were flying off the shelf

Walmart in Panama City had only a hand full of waiting customer (luckily for me) at 7:45am. At 8:00 they had a pallet of about 30-35 A2s come out. Most people were grabbing two and three at a time. By 8:20am all the A2s were gone! All in all, this has been the best two weeks of shopping I have ever experienced. The BB Add on glitch last week and now WM $98 A2 I can't wait to see what's coming in the weeks ahead! Although, I don't know how much more of this my wallet can take.

I got one (Wharton Texas close to Houston) on the way to work and they had eight left. No line for the A2, just a few locals waiting for the $358 laptop... So you may have better luck in the rural areas where they still have rabbit ears on top of their sets =)

Also, they were trying to get $198 for them and I made the manager go "find" the real sale price.

BTW, I haven't opened mine, are there any movies in the box?
Looks like Ebay is getting flooded with these in two flavors... WITH the upc on the box and WITHOUT the upc on the box.. cheaper of course.

I went in to get a few of the movies this morning only to find a guy shoveling ALL 6 copies of Sleepy Hollow (and several other titles) in his buggy. I asked if i could possibly have one of the sleepy hollow copies and he said "Sure, on ebay in about two hours for $19.99". I just asked how he ever made any money on things like that and he said $4 adds up when you buy in quanity. He had 6 players in his buggy as well. I asked if there was a limit and he simply said all you had to do was be a little difficult to get more.... sheesh. Glad i went to college and i don't have to sell my soul like that every day.

I was going to get the 35 in a few weeks but I figured since this was so cheap, what the hell. Anyway all three of the walmarts here were sold out, but then again I was there at 9am. Back to the 35...
Went in just after 7am, saw about 6 people with at least one in-hand/in-cart, a few with two players ea. I was able to snag two for family/friends, and were still a few A2s left on the pallet. Put my players in car, went back in and all were gone.

Saleswoman did not know about any more shipments over the w/e, so worth a drive by if you're in the area...

Good luck, everyone!

EDIT - in and out in under five minutes...awesome!

So you're saying the A2 for $200+ is better than the A2 for $98?

Delmont, PA. I walked in around 7:45. A bunch of people were in line for the laptop deal. There was a palette of about 20 sitting in the middle of the isle. I grabbed two, and one other guy grabbed one. I finished my grocery shopping, paid and left. Simple as that. I checked the stock just before I left, and there were still 10 sitting on the floor... I guess nobody in Delmont knows about HD-DVD just yet.

Everett, WA - I arrived at 6:50 and was first in line. They told everyone they wouldn't start selling until exactly 8:00, but at 7:15 the clerk did a test with the register to see if he could sell an A2 and he could - so laptops and A2's started flying. There were only about 8 people in line behind me. Everyone seemed to be there for the laptop, but about half were picking up the A2 as well. I picked up the laptop as well, since my 8 year old Vaio isn't cutting it any more and the Acer seemed like a pretty good deal at that price.

I feel a bit sorry for anyone who had expected them to actually wait until 8AM to start selling them.

Just looked -- my goodness, 246 items show up for "Toshiba HD-A2"!! I've been watching them recently and there's usually about 30-40 at most.

Gotta love those slickdeals eBay vultures...

that's grounds to be smacked around, what a jerk-off. of course, when I say I "love" those eBay vultures, of course what I mean is that I friggin' hate those scummy vultures. I just don't see how he can make money off that when you count eBay fees and paypal fees.

What I don't understand is those people who will sit there and have 15 ads up for HD-A2 at a stupid price (like $184.95 or something) plus shipping, which noone will pay because you can buy them brand new from Amazo for a similar price with the 5 free movies and have a return policy... and then these ads sit there forever and ever, maybe one a week goes. But, the seller has to pay fees for each of those ads! I just can't see that there's enough profit margin there, unless you're talking about the $99 ones you see this week.

I already have the HD-A35, don't need a 2nd player.

Snagged one this morning. My WM in Brooklyn Park, MN had a full pallet. I got there at 7:50am and only met a dozen or so people in the fron of me. I think everyone got a player if you were there by 8:02

Went to the Brooklyn Park store yesterday and he said they had 40 but wasn't able to get there by 8:02
