I returned and re-bought the A2 I had picked up last night. Great deal. I didn't go back to electronics to check, but someone stopped me on the way to the customer service desk because they wanted to buy mine. It didn't look like anyone was aware of the sale.
Now there's a smart idea! Outfoxed all the people who waited until today to get in line!
I waited and got to Walmart just before 9am. We have a much bigger, busier one on the south side of town, I went to our north location which is in the middle of nowhere and the parking lot was practically empty. Went back to electronics and it looked like they had at least ten of these things left. Avoided the rush and didn't have to wait in line. I don't think many people up here knew about the sale.
It's sitting in my trunk, I have to wait to try it out until I get home tonight. I'll be hooking it up to my Epson 400 pj.
This morning I purchased one at local Wal Mart to use for regular DVDs in guest bedroom. At 8:15 AM they had about 20 on the shelf. The item selling fast was the approx $ 300 Acer lap top. It appeared that most customers were just buying the sale items rather than doing other shopping. They were sold out by about 8:30. I have read that the A2 was one shot purchase from Toshiba and that quantities were very limited. As this product is said to be no longer in production, my guess is that the one shot deal is over.
I bought one of the HD-A2 from Walmart in Phoenix this morning. The store I went to only have 18 in stocks. By the time I got mine. They only have 3 lefts and there are around 10 more people still in line.
Did a drive by of the line still waiting in front of the store with my friend leaning out of the window holding the A2 aloft saying "so long, suckas!" Hit a speed bump which caused my friend to drop the A2 box on the pavement.
A future Darwin Award winner there, that's for sure. If you ever hear your friend say: "Hey ya'll, watch THIS!" ... run away. Run away very fast!
I went to a Walmart near Weatherford TX at 9:15 this morning. They told me they had sold out 30 mins before. Then I called the Walmart in Weatherford and they said they never even got any in! What the heck is that about! At least I still have my trusty A1. Oh well, I really want an A35 anyway.
As a Canadian reading all these posts about sub $100 A2's i must admit it's quite depressing. sigh one can hope for boxing day. 2 mths away! i think you americans should do some parachute drops of these inexpensive players to Canada
Delmont, PA. I walked in around 7:45. A bunch of people were in line for the laptop deal. There was a palette of about 20 sitting in the middle of the isle. I grabbed two, and one other guy grabbed one. I finished my grocery shopping, paid and left. Simple as that. I checked the stock just before I left, and there were still 10 sitting on the floor... I guess nobody in Delmont knows about HD-DVD just yet.
