The *Official* Samsung BD-UP5000 tracking thread - Page 24

Stopped by my local Best Buy on the way home after reading so many exciting posts.

Alas, still nothing in the system for Madison WI (I believe they pull from a Dist. Center in the Chicago area). Nothing in stock, nothing in transition.

The gent I spoke with mentioned that the South and West locations usually receive inventory first.

I asked about a pre-order and they said I could not. Considered BBB with the discount, but would not receive any of my BB Reward Zone points on the nearly $800 purchase (I think BBB has their own RZ program).

So I keep watching, and waiting, in breathless anticipation.

...yeah I said "breathless". I just spent 30 minutes aggressively pulling a three foot snow drift off of the roof of my house, and about half of it blew into my face!

Gotta love winters in the Mid-West. 90 degrees one weekend (October), and 30 the next.

Good luck to whomever is first to receive their product! You will no doubt be inundated with questions and requests for reviews! Better brush up on typing skills!

Cheers,
"Snowman" Spence

Thanks Vinnie97.

Thanks, also, to whoever gave us the 10% coupon code!

I place my order on the BBB after talking with their customer service rep. He believes this item is in the warehouse and ready for shipping. He checked other warehouses to confirm that it just wasn't a "fluke".

I hope we are getting Samsung's final production version of this player. I would hate to see another version shipping in January and come to find out we can't do a firmware upgrade.

According to BB in Rochester, MI...

They have recived a small shipment of them which will let them ship 1 to the store... Which according the Manager they will use for a display unit... He had 1 left available for sale which I purchased... it is being shipped to my home directly from the warehouse... else delivery the 19... Fingers crossed

Well if someone actually gets a unit and starts a OWNER'S thread please post the link in these long tracking threads so we're sure to see it. Thanks.

Just cancelled my order with Amazon.com and place one with BBB. Thanks a million for the SURVSAVE coupon (worked as of 12-13-07 9:20pm). saved me some $$ which I am sure I will blow someplace else rather quickly .

It appears I'm the only one who has this status on BBB.

Order Status Order Date Last Updated
On Credit Hold 12/13/2007 12/13/2007

It's like there was something wrong with my card. I used a debit card and it's showing as a purchase on my bank account. I emailed them with no reply, I'll call tomorrow I want to make sure my order is in.

Chicago TC, I have the same hold and I used a Visa business card and was told it's normal procedure. It may be because I opened a new account today.

I think that is just an indication that the funds have been "secured" or "reserved".

I think it's a good thing! Good luck with your gizmo! Hope you get it soon!

Great thank you for the vote of confidence. Now I need to wait and see when this status changes as I also have a pre-order at 1call. I don't want to cancel that until it's confirmed I have a box at BBB. If all goes terribly wrong I could have an "extra" for someone on AVS.

I was at a Magnolia Hi-Fi today in Washington State. They told me the Samsung BD-UP5000 will be delivered on 12/31/07. They have orders for 33. So, on Januaray 1, I may have to go there and see if they have them.

Ordered from BBB on 11/24. Got my shipment notice at 10:11 PM 12/13. I have tracked it and it has left MAUMEE, OH and is scheduled for delivery 12/17. I didn't pay for expidited shipping, but no big deal at this point. Hope everyone else gets theirs soon as well. Lastly, thanks to SpenceJT who posted the link to BBB order page (I think he was first) since you still can't find it normally and bmizar for the 10% off coupon.
Thanks, Spence. I cancelled at 1call because I like being able to walk it into a store if it fails in the first 30 days and the coupon savings put the price well below 1call. I wonder if you could take the coupon price and get 1call to match?
Seriously I am so excited right now. I have around 25 Blu-Ray movies I have not watched yet because I have been waiting for this player.

I just placed an order as well, and mine is also on credit hold. I suspect they just have to eyeball the order or some such procedural requirement.

I also have a pre-order at 1call, along with a 12-month interest free payment plan, which was supposed to be 18-months had the product shipped in the required time frame.

So, I figured that in as much as 1call can't provide any prospects for delivery, and the 18-month offer is now down to 12-months, I might as well try this option.

Not a bad deal with the additonal 10% off. Offsets the tax and 2-day shipping.

Just placed an order as well. About 783 with tax & std shipping. Now I have to call 1 call and cancel. Phew, the wait is finally over....
According to the thread over at home theater spot 1 call was moved up in the allocation list.

"1 call's Ship Date got moved up to a High Priority ship date. It had been on a lower priority date, which means other companies like Best Buy would have got it first. We are now on an "Early Adoptors" head of the line position without having to stand in line. They also got more units than they were originally slated to get."

If this is to be believed 1 call should have them like BBB. I'm going to hold out and not cancel either one until I have a tracking number.
I've had a pre-order with 1 call since Nov 23rd. I spoke with the rep a few minutes ago and he indicated that they were supposed to receive a shipment this week, but the shipment has not arrived and he didn't have any info on when it would arrive. There are 250 pre-orders in their queue.

So I placed my order with BBB using the SURVSAVE code (thanks!) . However, I did do overnight shipping so the code savings just made up for the expedited shipping ($80). Normal shipping is $10.

When I placed the BBB order, it said "In stock". Presently my BBB order status page has the same "On Credit Hold" message that a couple of other people have seen also. I checked my bank's web page and it shows the charge as "pending" which is usually what the bank shows when a charge is verified, but before it is billed.

Since the closest BB warehouse to me is Livermore California (this is the "San Francisco" warehouse #980729), then I requested overnight shipping. I live about 30 miles from Livermore.

So far I'm still awaiting a tracking number. Once I have that then I'll (sadly) cancel my 1 call order.

The credit hold makes sense after reading th FAQ on the BBB site...

"Generally, credit cards are not charged until we either ship the item(s) to you or confirm store availability (at which time you will be charged only for the goods we have actually shipped along with any appropriate taxes or shipping charges). However, we may pre-authorize your order amount with your credit card at the time you place the order, which may have an effect on your available credit line."

Really hoping my status changes tomorrow and I have an early Christmas present to myself. I have an Integra 9.8 and Emotiva amp sitting in boxes, it would be nice to play cable management all at one time but not sure how much longer I can hold out.
Are there any Direct Buy members out there who pre-ordered this unit getting a ship-to date other than "beginning of the year?" I'm trying like heck to get my local store to come up with a better (i.e., more precise) delivery time not that it appears these units are actually shipping to retailers. I'm sure DB is low on the list, but they should be on the list.
Well, I'll see when they ship mine tomorrow. It says orders before 10 am PST are shipped the same day. So hopefully I will have a tracking# tomorrow. Do they ship from multiple WHs for different regions or just one? I am in AZ.

Chicago, give me your thoughts on the Emotiva when you hook it up. I am contemplating getting one. Did you get the MPS1 or MPS2? I might settle for a MPS2 ($200 cheaper, its MPS1 sans the front billets). I jumped the gun and got a 4308CI so I have to pair up the emotiva with it. I been contemplating either Emotiva MPS or sunfire tga7400 (at twice the cost..wait, more than twice)

FYI... I have programmed a couple of ecommerce sites... you put a hold on the card and only can charge on the hold when the unit is sent out... also some online retailers are (dell for me last month) are double checking CC due to issues... they just take a random sample and call the purchaser... you answer a few questions and it's shipped...

Sammy,

I might not be the best reference for you as I went with the IPS-1. Given my speakers and listening difference there was only a 2dBI top end difference and I couldn't justify the price. Also given the size, price, and performance the IPS-1 was rated a better value compared to the MPS.

When we finally move and I get my dedicated room I might think about upgrading. I guess I'll see for sure when I hook it up. I'm not expecting great gains over my 2yr old Pioneer Elite but I do expect better performance.

EDIT: In my never ending obsession I just checked BBB, and I'm now "in process"
I just heard the sound of ~100 preorder cancellations at 1call (and a handful at ABT).

Oddly enough, I didn't take advantage and place an order for myself, but rather opted to wait for my local BB location/s to receive stock (I need to use/gain reward zone points).

As for posting the original link, I was in the right place/time. Any one of you would have done the same thing, but thanks for the kudos all the same.

The real heroes here are the posters who have helped kick the threads back toward their intended topic/s, and have worked to maintain a level of civility bitting their "tongue" when the odd question/links were repeated. It was a great demonstration of consideration and maturity.

...even for those of us rabidly waiting for this thing!

NOW POST SOME REVIEWS!

Cheers!

Spence

Just went up to the BBB site and the Samsung is not even on the web site. Can someone provide me with a link?

Thanks.
