My local Best Buy told me that some of the larger Best Buys have gotten the 5000 in. Problem is, they only received 1 for display. Also, audio output is 7.1

So, I think I'll preorder using all these offers, if CC allows all of them.

I don't think you can use the 10% code if it's not in-stock for pickup.

I went to the Tracy California BB last night. There wasn't shelf space or a tag for the 5000 but I had the printout from the BBB web page with the photo and SKU. The salesman said they had received "a pile" of them earlier (the Dublin California store had received 4, so the Tracy store had probably received a similar number).

We hunted around for a little bit and found one up on the top shelf (the high shelf with all of the extra boxes) and he had to get the roll-around ladder to get it. It was their last one. $799. They also had several LG 100's for sale at $999 (ouch) but I didn't see any 200's.

I did buy the EW. I never buy the EW, but I made an exception in this case (4-years for $80). They didn't accept the 10% coupon since it expired on Sunday.

So I am off to the users forum.

When did they say they got these "piles"? I thought the Norcal stores were getting one a piece. I keep just missing them at BB as there are too many techies here in Silicon Valley running around snatching up the one and only's. I know the stores in San Jose all got one each Saturday - all bought up within hours. Was there another delivery?

Got mine 10 minutes ago @ my local BB (PA), it was the only one that they ever had in stock. Very lucky to get it!

I purchased the BD-UP5000 from a best buy here in the phoenix area yesterday. Just so everyone knows who purchased it from best buy across the country, the player will come with 4 free movies instantly in the store. The only problem is they do not know which movies are available as the player is so new they dont have the list yet. The only two that I could find that instantly came off the price were Superman and 300. When they ring in the player, have them ring up the movies after that. There will be an instant credit. Since they could not find 2 more movies that worked and they had no list, they ended up letting me choose 2 non-new release titles. So, I got 4 movies and the player with my 12% off coupon. Great deal. If you already bought the player, try going back and have them ring in your receipt and then the movies. It should still work. Worth a shot at least.

Were these movies BR, HD, or either format?

Nope, it doesn't apply to pre-order items. I know because I tried it.

For an in-store LG BH200 I bought, I googled a BB coupon and then returned later to "return" and then re-buy the LG BH200 (which wasnt even present at the time). Saved $100 that way.

For those who got the player from Best Buy, did their system show that they had the player in stock or did you just happen to find one on the shelf? My local Best Buy checked their system and said that there are none in stock in ANY of the 12 Best Buys in the region. Is there any chance that I would find one in the store if their system says they don't have any?
For the 4 free movies, it can be either format. The only movies that worked were 300 and Superman Returns (I got both on Blu Ray). For those of your looking for a player from Best Buy, call the store and give them the SKU 8532082 and ask about units in transit. If they dont have any, they can see what other stores in your area do. Once you know there is one in transit, go to the store and buy it before it gets there. That way its yours. You will have to make 2 trips, but it guarantees you the player.

Pardon my ignorance about retail operations, but is that a BestBuy proprietary "SKU" or does it relate to the product, in general, and therefore could be referred to at any retailer?

I believe it is a best buy only sku, but not 100% sure of that

Ordered from BBFB last Wed. Order status never went to shipping on their web site -- was still "in process" this AM -- got a very pleasant surprise this afternoon when it arrived. Now to get it installed and set up.
That's good news Tbear. Hopefully I have the same suprise. I'm on the fence with cancelling and just picking up a Panny BD30 but I for whatever reason have faith that they will get this player's issues corrected.

For the Phoenix folk, the new Best Buy in Tempe just off the 202 has 1 as of right now.

Just picked mine up in Sherman Oaks today! Only one they had...

Update: Same experience as Tbear

I ordered from BBFB last Thursday and I am still "in process". However, the UPS guy disagrees as it was on my step when I got home.

Stopped at Best Buy (West) Madison for a second time today, once at opening, and again on my way home from work.

Still nothing! Zipp!! Zilch!!! I had almost made the purchase on BBfB today, but would rather put the balance not covered by gift cards, onto the Best Buy card and the no-intrest deal on the purchase!

I am falling into depression, and there is nothing better to soften the fall than a nice cold Guinness!

...Is it wrong that I feel like a "stalker"?

Same thing here... my order with BBFB has been "in process" since Thursday PM. Arrived late today via UPS 2-day. Sweet.

Major plan change from watching Nip/Tuck and Boston Legal... those will have to hold on my TiVo until later!

For those that have placed an order with 1Call, have you received an availability update?
I went to Best Buy and seen that they only had the display model. So I asked the sales person if I could buy it. To my suprise, he said yes. Only stipulation is that it came with no box. It is considered an open box because they throw the box away. I was willing to pay full price for it. That was the only way I could get it. So if you want it early try to buy the demo. Also no free HD or Blu-ray DVD's.
I just called most of the BB's around the Northeast (probably about 25 stores or so).

A few (3) have received a single display model on hand, but none has any for sale.......
Go the the store. Just take your chance and try to buy the display model. It could work for you.
There are more of these starting to show up. I picked one up in Spartanburg, SC today. A very (unusually so!) helpful guy in the A/V section (in Asheville, NC) looked it up on the computer. At first nothing showed. He said "Let me look it up another way", which he didn't explain. Several then showed up in NC (Greensboro, etc.) and some in SC, FWIW.

When I picked mine up yesterday at the Jax-Regency BB, nothing as said about free movies...think I'll go back tomorrow with receipt and see what happens...
Received my shipping notice from BBFB. It should be here tomorrow. Excellent...... Just changed my whole Netflix Que over to BR/HD format movies!

As it stands right now I am checking with BB everyday morning and evening. With CC having a release date of December 25th I will log on to their site and see if they then show them in the stores. Hopefully I can order one then and pick up on the 26th. I just don't understand how BBFB had them in stock and shipped before the stores had them. That does not make sense to me. Congrats to all of you that have received your players already.
