Why are people picking up Full Metal Jacket with their A2 when it's free. One of the 5 HD-DVD that you can get for free by mail is Full Metal Jacket save your $15 and get something else.

Maybe someone wants (2) of the movies in that category. You can only choose 1 per category. Maybe the rest of them in that category are not $14, so better to spend $14 on FMJ and pick out another in that category for free (given that you want 2 in that same category).

Wow...how many times did I type category?

Because the free one is the old crappy release, buying it in the store gets you the new remastered release, that doesn't suck.

Anyone have a link to the free HD movie selection?

I thought the one for 14.96$ was the old release and the new remaster was priced higher at 18.96$. The free one definitely looks like the older version.

Anyone find FMJ for 14.96$ for the new remastered release at WM?

Maybe because that (2nd) 5 Free deal originally started a good while before the new edition of FMJ was even released...?

Just a hunch.

I loved the movie. Held off buying it in HD because the transfer was not good. While not perfect, the new version is better and I bought it a few days ago.

Do we know for SURE that the free FMJ is the old version?

Based on the cover art used on the offer form, I would think it's the old version until they clear out stock.

The disc artwork shown on the updated rebate form (for purchases made up until the end of February 2008) is for the old disc.

Now, that's not to say that maybe they run out of them at some point and ship the new ones instead. But there's no way to know in advance when or even if that would happen.

EDIT: One thing's for sure, though: I type slow as f***.

Yeah, the new one came up at the higher price so I put it back. Thought the old one was recalled. Guess not!

Some of us didn't realize which ones were on the free list.

Yes, the more colorful cover that had a big "remastered" sticker on it. It was $14.96 (last night at 8PM). I bought it because it wasn't an option for the freebies when I bought my player

New FMJ has Amazing picture quality! A real Stunner of a film and now w/ picture quality to match.

I am repeating what I have previously said, but if you truly want to watch immediately one of the free movies, do not pick it as one of your choices. Buy it now, and pick something else. The five movies take so long to arrive that you will regret not simply buying it, and it will make the waiting period even more frustrating.

May be because most people, especially the ones that bought the A2 at Walmart don't know about the 5 free DVDs. I didn't know until I started reading this section of avsforum. Nothing in the box or the add eluded to the free DVDs.
