I spent weeks sifting through numerous forums looking for anyone who may have experienced dynamic red and green banding problem in areas where one would expect a smooth gradient on their plasma (PDP)--mine is a Samsung HP-R5052.
Trying to isolate the usual suspects, I adjusted various voltages to ensure they were within tolerances listed on the voltage sticker and ensured snug ribbon cable fitting, but still the banding was there. Interestingly, the red & green (not blue) banding became worse over the month and made the display unbearable to watch. My local Samsung repair guy quoted me $1,300 to replace/install the main board ($580), logic board ($511) and calibrate ($200). Not having this kind of budget, I opted to chance the repair myself.
I'm pleased to say that I replaced the $240 Logic board (BN96-02031A) only and this completely resolved my issue. Since I wasn't able to find any other references out there for my specific symptom, I wanted to share my experience with this forum. Hopefully, this helps someone!
