hey guys i have finally decided that i want a HDTV and was wondering if you gys could help me pick one, since im no expert lol. I am upgrading from my old sony SD tv to a tv that is atleast 46 inches in size. Can you guys point me to a few TVs in the $3500 dollar range?

I am hearing that this sony XBR4 is a good tv to buy but others are saying that the samsung 71 series are better? can you guys also tell me about that? thx.

46" or at least 46"? For what you are willing to spend you can get the 52" of either. Both are great sets and you really can't go wrong. For what it's worth the XBR4 is cnet's editors choice.

(get the xbr)

The 52XBR4 can be had for $3500 or less...

And the Samsung LN-T5271F is $600 less than the Sony! Then, you can get both Blue-ray and HD-DVD players with the saving.

LOL ya HD ew lol well not rlly but iv seen it beside a Blue ray movie and i have to say that blue ray rlly >>>>>. But thats just my opinion. So I think im prolly going to go with the XBR4. Now i just have a few more Qs.

So i will most likely be getting the 46"( ill go see how much the 52 is when i go to check some stores later today) But i was wondering if 9ft distance would be good enough for a 46? Im pretty sure that thats enough but i would like some more input.

Also How does the xbr4 play games? I have a ps3 and with all the new games comeing out next year i was wondering how the xbr4 plays them. Im hearing that it leaves a bit of a trail sometimes like in shooters where there is a lot of action going on on the screen. Is this a big issue or does it only happen sometimes?

I think most people would say that's too far for the 46" but in reality it's not a problem. Check this chart for some distance vs. size info.

As far as gaming goes, the trailing would be minimal if noticeable at all and something only hardcore gamers would care about. So if you're not a virgin it shouldn't be an issue.

hmm ya i guess ur right. I dont mind if its minimal ill prolly get used to it. How does the XBR handel BD movies? from the other threads iv read it seems to handle them prett good but there seems to be a bit of clouding sometimes. Does that only occour is places where there is only black?

I finally decided to go to the sony store and check the TV out. I have to say i was rlly impressed =D. The colours seemed rlly nice and viberant and the blacks were good. I didnt seem to notice any motion blur even though there was a lot of action going on on thje screen( was a fight scene with guns and glass shattering and a fast bike chase, looked pretty sweet to me ) Nor did i notice any clouding. The only bad this i guess about this TV is the 3999 price point. In canada the Tvs are a tad bit more expensive i think than in US. But the 52" sure looked damn nice so lets see maybe it will drop a bit by christmas and ill hopefully pick it up. Thx guys for all your help ^_^
