HD DVDs in Sunday Ads?

Thread Starter
I got my $98 A2 this week from Wal-Mart and was looking forward to seeing some HD DVDs on sale in the Sunday ADs, but none of them mentioned HD DVDs on sale (CC, BB, HH Gregg, Traget, K-MArt) but several mentioned Blu-Ray disc sales.

Did your local paper mention any HD DVD sales?

My sunday flyers said 10 free HD DVDs with purchase of a player.

BestBuy had an entire page of titles in both HD DVD and BR at $17.99. I just double checked online and found them on the weekly ad for my zip at 45324.

+1

In fact, I've been pleasantly surprised with the overall marketing as of late.

And if anyone is planning on getting any of those titles on sale, I'd suggest not waiting. I just got back from Best Buy a few minutes ago and got the last copy of Evan Almighty on sale and noticed that most of the on sale HD DVD titles were nearly wiped clean. Knocked up was already sold out and Backdraft had the most available.

All the Kubrick's were gone also with the exception on 1 copy of Eyes Wide Shut. Bummer because I wanted to pick up The Shining and Clockwork Orange, go figure...

But the Kubrick's titles are not on sale, are they? On their website, these titles still show $24.99.

No, I was just venting out my frustration. I should have been more clear. Sorry.

This drives me nuts ... these are ... no kidding .. $39.99 AFTER discount in Canada ... they carry list prices between $49.99 and $59.99. I actually saw Accepted in a store this weekend at $54.99 (I got it on e-bay recently at under $20).

Thank goodness these can be rented locally! Or shipped from amazon.com at, at least, better than local pricing.

That sucks. Come to Buffalo, not to far a drive. I went to Toronto with some friends to go to Tower records and Popeyes.

I was able to pick up a few as well, however only a select few.
Was it "Friday only" for every non-box set HD DVD to be on sale?

Well, I hadn't gotten around to picking up 12 Monkeys yet, so here's my chance.

Don't feel too bad. I checked at my local Wallys and their were only limited selections. Sounds like someone got lucky.
