Advantages upgrading AVM 30 to AVM 50?

Thread Starter
My setup currently is an Anthem A5 amp with the AVM 30 Pre pro. running Von Schweikert VR 4jr's and VR2's with same make of sub and center. My TV is a Pioneer 6010FD. Just wondering if someone who knows this stuff more than I do could shed some light on a question. I have been told that I should upgrade to the AVM 50 to gain the HDMI capability. I plan on using the Dish 722 DVR and eventually getting either an HD DVD or Blu-Ray player. But, then I am told that the sound and video differences would be relatively small, and that the Pioneer already has a good video processor on board and that the $2000.00 upgrade price could well be better spent elsewhere. Any thoughts or comments appreciated. B. Taylor

Did you ever get an answer to this? I am in the same position. Is there a switch that will give us HDMI capability?
