I agree with the wall mounting idea. However, young children tend to be very resourceful. A few light slaps to the face followed by several minutes of awkward silence could inhibit the youngsters from touching the screen. A firm backhand is probably overkill and may put you in jail.
The key is to keep the punishment for lack of disipline passive instead of passive aggresive. I suggest finding an old lamp and removing the light bulb. Ask the children to reach inside the lighting element to find a hidden coin. The 120v of AC power should give them quite a jolt.
If this fails I suggest taking another old lamp and stripping the lamp cord from the lamp. Expose the wire by removing the rubber covering with a wire stripper and plug it in the wall. Each time the kids touch the screen, they need to touch the exposed wire of the lamp cord while it's plugged into the wall.
Rest assured, your children will never want to touch anything ever again. If this isn't your cup of tea, forget about the plasma and accept that it may be destroyed. If you can't accept this idea, go to your doctor and ask for Luvox to cure obsessive compulsive disorder.
