My neighbor bought one from m-wave on eBay for about $100 a few months back .. no problems so far and it came with the housing as well ..

Yup.
M-Wave was one of the links I posted a while back(not ebay though-direct from the store), I think the price was just a wee bit higher than $98 bux though.
Killer deal if the bulb is any good.

Yeah, that was me... but I never ended up buying the second lamp.

Can't believe my memory was that good. It isn't usually. wink.gif

Viewsonic FINALLY sent back my repaired projector - I should have it on Tuesday.
I really, really hope that it's fixed. I'd hate to be without a projector for another month. frown.gif

Is the brightness comparable on your "neighbor's" bulb?wink.gif

Thanks Willie!

Ed, my 8100 is several years old now with quite a few hours on it .. so if your asking me to compare his lamp to a new VS lamp, I can't .. I use a screen with a different gain than what he has .. I can tell you that it looked great and it's still working fine, if that helps .. I would buy the same lamp if I needed one at this point .. I already have 2 spares, though ..

Thanks Willie. Sounds like a heck of a deal if it doesn't blow up,lol. I also have a spare but at that price it's really tempting.....

Like I said, if I needed a lamp, I would not hesitate to buy one of those .. in most cases, if a lamp goes, it will be within a short time of the install .. and he's had this one in service now for at least a few months ..

So I have had the Pro8100 for 2 1/2 years with no issues, had the upgrade bug so I bought the BenQ W7000 which was a great projector but the family wasn't to happy with 3D so I sent it back. Thought I would keep the Pro8100 for awhile longer then I was offered a great deal on a new JVC X3 so I bought it, should be here in a few days.

If anyone is interested in buying my Pro8100 which is in excellent condition, no banding (I do use a timer) with near perfect convergence please pm me. I have the instructions, remote, projector has about 2000 hrs on it, the bulb has about 650 hrs on it and I have a new spare bulb in the box.

I got my projector back today. Even though they were supposed to repair it, I received a completely different unit.
On top of that, it was packaged incredibly poorly, to the point where the projector could freely move around inside the box. eek.gif

But, as it turns out, it still works fine, and it has no banding!!! cool.gif The lamp also had 0 hours when I received it. biggrin.gif
The only thing that worries me is that the unit was manufactured back in 2008. Should I be worried that it'll give out soon?

VS normally sends a different unit .. banding does not usually show up until you've had at least a 50-100 hour break in period .. you got an early production run of the unit .. does not really mean anything ...

Yeah, I guess it is too early to tell. But I do know that banding showed up right away on the old projector, so at least it's somewhat better than that unit.

I haven't had my 8100 working in months...for some reason, it will not accept any long cables (that work with other displays). Looking to do a hard reset, anybody know how to do this?
Go to the other Pro8100 thread (you'll have to do a search) and it tells you how to get into the Service menu. That might help.

I don't know if a reset will correct that problem .. what length and which cable type are you using .. ?? Mine runs off a 25' HDMI from MonoPrice ..

Same here. Using the one rated for in-wall installation and it was like working w/ a garden hose. wink.gif

I have tried several 35 feet cables that work on my TV, also, I was using one cable for 6 months with the Pro8100, it suddenly failed but still works on the TV.
So, I believe it's something with the projector not the cables.

Have you tried HDMI 2 on the projector?
Yup tried hdmi 2 as well
There were early reports of the HDMI connectors being fragile. I guess that's a possibility also.

At that length, even though it may work with your TV, it may not work with the PJ .. the maximum practical limit to pass 1080p is considered by many to be 25 feet .. in fact, I don't know of any certified cable greater than 25 feet .. I would test it with a shorter cable, and try each input .. generally, if the input was damaged, it would be lose ..

Thanks for the replies...I am hoping a reset might help because the cable was working with the unit for over 6 months. It suddenly failed while I was watching a movie and hasn't worked with any long cable since, both inputs still work with short hdmi cables....not sure what else I can try

Maybe a hdmi repeater?
Could check w/ Monoprice and see if they have any options.
I actually tried a splitter with amplifier as well, didn't work but it was a cheap one
post #8727 of 9206
Are you going thru any switches or AV receivers?
I have tried direct from PS3 and from Denon receiver with PS3...never works, but cables and PS3 and Denon work with Sony TV
post #8729 of 9206
That blows, I use a Monoprice ~30' 22 AWG hdmi cable, and haven't had any issues.
Has anyone tried these from monoprice ....HDMI® Extender Using Cat5e or CAT6 Cable
Other then that, not sure what my options are
