If the lamp isn't coming on at all, I'd check to make sure the connector is seated properly. I know on mine it was a minor struggle to get the thing in since the lamp housing didn't quite fit.

If that doesn't help then I guess you got Ed's old bulb. eek.gifwink.gif

WRONG!wink.gif I fixed that part of the problem. Gently filed a tiny bit off the housing--bottom right near that screw. Fit fine then but it was DIM.frown.gif

Not very long Willie. Maybe a couple of hours? I almost always use ECHO with the OEM lamp. Tried using the mwave on normal and it was still so dim I couldn't tolerate it.

Ed

Yeah, and I didn't hear an ECHO either.........rolleyes.gif

I MEANT ECO or economy mode or the lower brightness mode or whatever ya call it.wink.gif

Today mine showed the "Lamp error" LED when first turned on but went out in a minute or two. About 400 hrs now.
Received and installed the m-wave lamp and so far it is doing ok. Seems bright enough in the eco mode. I am pleased with it so far. I did have to do a little filing on the housing to make it fit. Thanks to old corp for the heads up on this.

Hey Guys, Finally dropping back in with just over 900 hours on my baby already! Shes growing up so fast! smile.gif Every night my eyes sparkle with delight as the childhood dream of having a movie theater in my own freaking house is fulfilled! Im using Darkriders eco settings from page 161. Zero incidences of vertical or horizontal banding, I unplug her every night. No issues whatsoever! I am gobsmacked with joy and delight by this machine! The best 500 bucks I have ever spent!

And if life wasnt sweet enough I just scored a whole swath of equipment last week:

Klipsh sub 12 subwoofer,
Klipsh Ref 4 RC52 Center
A pair of Warfdale Modus one Bookshelf speakers
JVC AX R450
Technics SAR 177
Fisher RS853
Sony cdp 291 Cd Player
Sony KV 34HS420 Tv
and a about 100 feet of nice 12 guage wire
for a grand total of ...100 beans!

The sub, center and modus have currently replaced the front soundstage of my trusty old Boston micro system 9000 that ive been runing since 99 ...Needless to say i've got a **** eating grin happily plastered across my face!!

Cheers Fellas!

I agree. Was it an estate sale or just your run-of-the-mill B&E? wink.gif
post #8891 of 8980

My neighbor scored 2 Klipsch Cornwall II off Craigs List a while back for $150.00 for the pair .. and they looked mint and sounded as good as mine ..

Hehe Yea, The fellow i got it all from runs a small moving company(I saw the van so it was legit!...Or has a really good cover!)....And somehow he ends up constantly filling up a storage garage with random stuff that people don't want anymore. He was very happy to get rid of the equipment!...But not as happy as i was to take it!cool.gif

So the "Sub 12" just died on me...It was working perfectly fine and then a couple days ago it started acting up....At first the "auto on" wasn't activating the power so i switched it to "always on" and that seemed to do the trick for a while, and then it just started randomly cutting out..power light still on just no sound...Adjusting the gain or crossover seemed to kick it back on but it was still sporadic at best....Next i hooked up a y splitter to both the left and right inputs instead of just the left(lfe)....After that it worked perfect for the next day and i thought i had magically found the cure! ...Alas last night upon firing up Die Hard 4 (Have slowly been watching them all in anticipation of the new one next month!! fingers crossed its better than this turd!) ...the sub made nary a peep and was dead on arrival from the start!....So the old reliable 14 year old little 8'' boston is back in her trusty spot for the time being....What a tease! Now that i've had a taste of a 12 with some power its going to be hard to go back!! Im going to pull the amp out of the klipsh and see if i can see any loose connections or whatnot, hopefully I can pull of a hail marry fix cause I sure can't afford a new sub right now...Its at tough life! ahh first world problems!tongue.gif

Now to keep this post somewhat on topic...The viewsonic "portal creator" continues to faithfully rocket my mind into glorious High definition universes of magic and mystery on a nightly basis, and i will forever bow down to her in all her might and glory hazza! .biggrin.gif:D.

Ed .. I'm a little hesitant to say this and you and others may think I'm nuts .. but, some of these M-Wave lamps have actually brightened some after about 10 hours of use .. I had a couple I installed that seemed kind of "muddy" initially .. I went back for a follow up check and the output had improved, with greater clarity .. I don't know if there may be some sort of coating on the lamp that eventually burns off or a short break in period is needed .. I just don't know ..

I'm not trying to get you to buy another lamp, just reporting what I am observing .. that's why I asked you earlier how long you ran it ..
440 hours, still good. smile.gif

Maybe I should've tried to use it longer Willie but honestly I couldn't stand watching it as dim as it was. I suppose I could've left the pj on and left the room.wink.gif Never imagined a lamp would brighten with use. I REALLY wanted to be happy with it and for the price I would've been content to run on NORMAL instead of ECO. I'm sure it wasn't just a placebo thing either (knowing that it wasn't OEM). My dear wife that NEVER notices ANYTHING re. pq said "How come the picture is so much dimmer than usual" and I had it on NORMAL instead of the usual ECO. Guess I just got a bad one.

Well, you saw what you saw and like I said, I'm not trying to talk you into another .. just generally reporting what is weird to me as well .. wink.gif

Don't know if this type of bulb has a filament but if it does, then maybe there was some oxidation that needed to be burned off in order to develop full brightness. Just a thought from the few addled brain cells left. wink.gif

That's a possibility as well .. I'm sure it has a filament ..

hey guys, i am having a problem and idk what it is.

watching a movie, the picture will suddenly drop out = random mis-mash, the viewsonic image, and the lense shift screen will show. and it switches between all of these, randomly. it all lasts about 20 seconds, then goes back to the movie. sometimes it will do this a few times in 10 mins. other times, not at all during a movie.

any ideas ? i don't even know if its the PJ. but sinse the lense shift screen comes up, i am starting with the PJ.

540hrs on original bulb. and for those that don't remember me. i got a good machine before the banding issues started showing up.
First guess is a solder joint going Tango Uniform as it temperature cycles.

Second is bad HDMI connection/cable.
its the pj itself. does it with no hdmi plugged in. i will have a vid of the issue when my batteries are charged.

but in the mean time. if i need to replace it, what should i be looking at ? its has to be quiet.

Hey all. I did some searching and hadn't found a fix so I'm posting the question:

I've got a vertical purple line on the left side of the screen that is there all the time. Thankfully, it's not noticeable on dark scenes.

Does anyone know the cause of this problem? How to get rid of it?

Thanks, my bro in law is visiting from out of state and will see the house for the first time. He's always had a bigger TV than me until now. For shallow, self-centered, personal reasons, I want the 8100 to be at it's best.

Thanks for any suggestions on a fix.

i am trying, in vain, to creat a youtube account.= no dice.

at the same time i have the machine running. it acted up a few times at startup. but right now, playing a movies, it is just fine. idk, wtf. can someone be pissed and happy at the same time

I assume this happens on all sources? (ie: ps3, cable, etc)
