To me, it looks like it's a wide gamut projector with the colour control turned down in an attempt to fix things.

Unfortunately, you really need a CMS to fix gamut problems, turning colour down just makes the image look drained of colour and lifeless.

I fully agree, and I had already said earlier in a post back, lower the saturation makes the image just dull, because it changes significantly the luminance of the color.

I think that I may be able to get some DVD's before they are released and get some screen shots now. I know somebody that knows somebody so I will have to wait and see how it goes.

A bit of a yellow push going on in your pics did you have a blue push last time if so split the difference of what you have done not trying to get under your skin just an observation take it or don`t just my opinion...

Thanks for the tip, but I think all of the Transporter films are heavy on the yellows. For example, here one photograph I took off my screen from Transporter 3 followed by the computer image capture of close to the same frame. The yellows are quite similar to my eyes.

Just got my projector a few days ago. Quick calibration and it looks amazing. BenQ w5000 108" DIY screen. Straight out of camera (sony alpha), just cropped and resized.

Wow that's really blue! Do these look very different from the projected image?

Plenty sharp tho...

I'm not sure how many hours are on the W5000 but if less than 200 hours it's going to be somewhat more bright than it would be with typical use. Is there a digital camera that doesn't make images blue in screen shots? I have been thinking about getting a new camera but I worry about all these unnecessary features on the new ones with regards to screen shots. Check out the first page of the thread and you will see blue looking screen shots.

Nope, thats exactly how it looks on the screen. That movie has a lot of high blue in it. I always use that scene after calibration to see how it represents all the vivid colors. The projector is bright right out of the box, about 20fL, I have it toned down to 16fL right now.

edit: just realized my mediacenter IS pushing blue a bit on the hot side. My blu-ray shows it a bit towned down. Guess I will have to calibrate the PC now.

Finding Nemo shouldn't be that blue. The yellow fish with the thing for bubbles should be bright yellow.

Sorry; DVD is only source I have for Nemo pics.
Have you got some stuff with gray or fleshtones in it? Grayscale was within a point or two of .313, .329 @ 20 thru 80IRE.

It looks like there is better shadow detail on my CRT monitor but it looks like the exposure is pretty high. Nice thing about the longer exposures is you get more detail, but at the expense of color. I don't see the blue on my CRT monitor but the ansi contrast looks kind of low. What settings are you using inside the camera? I don't think I would calibrate the PC for Media Center.

Kevin3000,

I don't have projector myself, but considering you have the best projector under $5k, your screenshots typically look way too soft focused. Is the JVC-10 really this way?

I shot at aperature priority, f8. White balance was auto. I just tried to calibrate my projector for the PC (media center 2005), and it is way off. I gave up after 20 minutes. Doing the blu-ray player was much easier as I had the DVE disk and had a good step by step to use with my eye1. All i have for the PC is test patterns, and they are not the same as what the disc provides. If I knew more on calibrating, I could get it. I would just love to get rid of that mediacenter, but I have over 400 movies on my server! Maybe I'll look into a popcorn hour or some other network streaming device.

Yes, RS1, I fixed it, thanks.

Overexposed? Perhaps, I don't know, I didn't take the shot. A photographer did.

What makes you think it is?

A lot of yellow push in your pics must be your camera...
This is how mine looks...

After checking out what you have posted i still do not see all that yellow in the posted shots on my PJ or my monitor or another tv so unless all my screens are faulty or i am going colour blind i think my less yellow pics are more natural to what i actually see on my 3 displays....

I would post a screengrab but can`t get it to save in paint or photoshop - printscreen-open paint new/paste blankscreen??
Desktop saves but film paused -priscrn or alt priscrn don`t?

Transporter 3 quotes
Greens look more brown orange flesh tones whites become peach...
No yellow filters so lowering saturation mutes the above as shown in my screenshots....

If you could see what i see on my displays you would have picked up on their yellow push because it is not yellow this end right or wrong i see what i see no yellow push only trying to be helpful as others have to me.

Have you actually watched the blu-rays in qusetion with colour turned down?

Look at that car pic with the yellow tinge lower your monitors colour looks familiar??

What do you guys think about my pictures? Its my first time taking the pics with a dsr camera and that being dureing the day to.
They look great, very sharp and dynamic. Perhaps you couls post some screenshots of movies?
I think I have something wrong with my camera. Every screen shot I take has a definite blue tint. I dropped it once on a carpeted floor and I seem to remember knocking over my tripod once. I'm going to get my wife's little Pentax M50 and try some shots with it for comparison. I'm not going to spend another $500 on a camera body anytime soon.
