Hi, i am about to receive my Samsung FP-T5084 today but i read alot about it having IR issues. However I am wondering are these just occurrences in people who did not break in there Plasma's properly with the Break In DVD? Any input would be appreciated.

hi...I have the fpt 6374 and tbh just forget about worrying and enjoy your set....I spent 5 grand on mine and I just got sick of scowering over the whole panel after watching some tv just to check for ir. these sets also don't need a burn in period as well, although I kept my contrast/brightness levels at 50-60% for the 1st few months, but with the pixel shift function and the white\\grey scale function you should be able to eliminate most ir from your daily watching if any...Just relax and enjoy your very nice pdp

The only thing that really worries me is that I like to play some ps3 games sometimes, usually no more then 1 hour. However almost everyone on this site says u need to break in your plasma and keep contrast and brightness under 30 for first 100-200 hours..

i wouldn't worry about it especially because you only play an hour a day.
Regardless of brand, I'd still be concerned if I were a heavy gamer using any plasma. Your usage is minimal though and no where close to being an issue.

well if that is the case then I am in serious trouble with my set...seriously, you don't need to break in your tv but it is ENTIRELY up to you and how you wish to do it. If you think about it, what really is the purpose of "breaking in" a tv. I can understand a car with the 1st thousand miles rule, but a tv? (ok-my flame suit is now on) anyway, even Samsung states that their plasmas DO NOT need a break in period...See here CLICK PAGE 2 http://www.samsung.com/us/support/fa...Type=D&vType=R

anyway, like I said, enjoy your set....when you set it up the 1st time, just make sure to pick home mode and not the store mode(i believe thats what they called them) as the store mode is set for torch settings....But I would lower the contrast/brightness to say 50-75% for the 1st month but even if you do decide to set them high to watch a movie, then do it and enjoy it! later

I ordered one about 3 weeks ago, but since I was out of town, I've been unable to use it until today.

I hooked it up, lowered the brightness and contrast to below 50, and proceeded to play Xbox360 for about 3 hours.

Absolutely NO sign of IR, and I love this tv.
