Receiver 'clicking'...help

Thread Starter
I've been having some problems with my receiver lately. It's an older model Sony receiver that I got from Costco that came with a DVD player. The problem I have is similar to this one. The only difference is that sometimes when I hear 'the click', my center speaker is 'dead.' No noise is coming out of if.

I have a Toshiba A2 and a PS3 hooked up to it.

Is there a good explanation or a resolution to this or is it broken?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think it is developing an issue. Can you tell it you don't have a center for now? If that works, I do think it an issue with either the center channel or the center channel speaker, or the wiring even maybe?

Classic symptom of a bad relay, or you have a short in your speaker wiring. I've seen both cause clicking, though shorts usually cause the receiver to completely shut down during exceptionally "loud" passages on the two Onkyo receivers that have had that problem that I've owned. Both were caused by one of my kids manhandling one of the surround speakers. They had too much stripped wire going into the compressing jack, so it would get pulled out slightly and touch. That's the first thing I'd check, both on each speaker and the receiver end.

Didn't Costco offer their lifetime warranty when you bought this? If so, just get a refund.
