So I am looking for a cheap reciever that will give me Dolby trueHD/DD+/dts HD MA sound from a Toshiba A2 or A3 HD DVD player....


Which is the better value


Sony DG910

or

Onkyo605

I don't know which is the better value, but the A2 and A3 will not send bitstream through HDMI. That means the audio will be decoded in the player, and sent to either reciever as "multi-channel.

If you currently have an AVR that accepts audio over HDMI, it will work just as well.

IIRC, both the Sony and the Onkyo can play decoded high res LPCM HD DVD audio over HDMI.....

So, besides this feature, what else are the pros and cons of each...
