I just want that 5 movies from best buy.
They matched amazon.com price but it was not easy.
i first went to my local BB trying to match CC deal (399.99).
But CC deal was one day deal only (before christmass)
so they called CC and told me they cant match one day deal only.
Then i went to second BB and asked if they can match amazon deal.
they said yes.
But....
If i dont get free movies this sunday i will not keep my panasonic.
450$ (with tax) is still too much for me. (well if BR won format war i could care less but not now)
so we will see....

i only wonder what they will do if i ask them for free movies?
They just scan my reciept or they return it and then i have to re-buy it?

when i got my toshiba A3, in order to get some free movies, they had to return my previous purchase (did not have to bring player in, just reciept) and recharge me for another to get the free movies on a new reciept. it's easy, but you have two charges on your card and a credit that takes longer to post.

Unless you are a huge GAMER, I would never want a PS3 for my dvd player. It wouldn't cooridinate in my component rack very well. Also, Sony sucks.

The credit to the card is pretty quick as I purchased my son an 80gb PS3 with a $150.00 credit a few months ago and the credit showed up before the first payment was due and you also get 12 months interest free. They've lowered the price on the units now and only offer a $100.00 credit but it's really a sweet deal. Thinking of opening another one and getting the 40gb PS3 or BDP 300 for myself. It's either that or a Samsung BD 1400 FOR $270.00 with the 5 instant movies and the 5 mail in ones.

For those pondering the $100 sony credit deal - I just got my first statement today and the credit was already posted!

Just picked up a Sony BDP-S300 tonight from BB for $299 with two free instantly. Got POTC:AWE and Harry Potter: OOTP. Gonna go back Sunday and get them to honor the five free instantly and get three more. Going to choose from Underworld: Evolution, The Departed, Ice Age 2, Pixar Shorts and Blade Runner. This ended up being a pretty good deal. With the free discs which I probably would have bought anyway and using $100 X-mas present we got from my bro in law the out of pocket expense for this player is $49.

Oh and for those worried about BB honoring the freebies on previous purchases. I had no problem when I did it with my Toshiba A3. They ran a three free a few weeks after I bought it. Went back and got them. And this was on an amazon price match too.

If one makes a purchase from best buy online and designate in store pickup, no charge is made to the credit card until time of pickup. I believe they will hold your purchase for two or three days before canceling the order. You could therefore purchase your player and videos beforehand with no stress and get what you want and arrive at the store on sale day for the special deal with your discount in hand and customer service will take care of you.

Does the bestbuy deal of 10 free movies for any blu-ray player include the ps3? I didnt see anything in the small print. If so im going receipt in hand to get my other 5 free sunday.
Ahhh, hmm it doesn't. Posted too soon. Now i need to decide if i take the ps3 back and exchange it for a player to get the movies.
I thought the PS3 got some free movies? Has that deal passed? My Teens picked up a 80Gb version today at Target, I see nothing about movies in the contents anywhere....

If you did not see it go back and read the fine print again. The PS3 is excluded. And I can tell you why or at least the reason I think it is. The coupons they send out now say they are good on Blu-ray and HD DVD players but exclude game systems. If they started advertising PS3 as Blu-ray players they would have a harder time saying you could not use the coupon on it.

Does anyone think the Sony BDPS300 will revert back to the $399 price (from this weeks $299 sale price) when the 5 in store free movies (plus the 5 mail in offer) comes out on 30 Dec? I guess it would still be a better deal, as you can't get 5 movies for $100....

It depends on your point of view. To me I'd rather have the cash. I have no desire to collect movies. I'd rather have a $100 in my pocket than 10 free movies.

You have to be careful when ordering online with BB. I had trouble with them as I originally ordered my BD30 online and applied $50.00 in Reward Zone cash to the purchase. I also had a 12% RZ coupon which can not be used online. So I figured I would do a store pickup then submit the coupon.

Well when I went to BB they told I made the purchase online and could not use the 12% coupon. So I asked the service rep. to cancel the online order and I would repurchase. He said OK but told me when I cancelled the online order I would have to wait 1-2 weeks to be able to use my $50.00 RZ cash!

In the end everything worked out but I will never purchase anything online with BB when I can do it in store. It is like dealing with two different companies BB (the retail store) and BB online. Calling the 800# for both BB online and the RZ 800# was absolutely of no help at all.

So I've been following this thread since I'm thinking about picking up the Panny from my local Seattle BB.

I called yesterday and they had 2 in stock. Would it be wiser to go purchase it now rather than wait for the weekend when the deal is on? Can I then go back and get the movies?

Is the best match at this point Amazon? Sorry I'm a noob to price matching.
Amazon does not price match. Circuit City does though, but usually only on price. They probably won't match the 5 free dvds. More than likely you will have to go w/BB. This is how the retailers are now constucting their way "around" price matching policies. (you can't get the same deal anywhere else, so you have to go to BB. they only had 2 players and those were gone within 2 hours of the store opening. you came to buy a BR player, so you're gonna buy one anyway along with some other stuff. you will be mad that BB didn't have what you want, but it won't stop you from giving them your money anyway. )

Sorry, I guess I was asking if if I go to BB and tell them Amazon has a listing of $414.99, will BB honor that? I haven't seen what the current CC price is at. Just deciding the best course of action to go Purple.

If I say, sure, I'll buy this player if you throw in an HDMI cable or something to that effect.

I also have $100 in BB Gift Cards. Woot.

I would get the player from Amazon and spend the $100 gift certificate on movies or whatever you please at BB. The Amazon deal is better if you don't really *need* 5 extra BR movies!

I got my panasonic yesterday (By the way KICK ars player) and i used the 10% coupon and when i asked the guy about the deal on sunday even though he would not admit it he said i can come in with my receipt and i can get my 5 movies. So am guessing you are ok.
I called my local Best Buy, they said that as long as the player itself is not on sale, you can use the coupon even though they are giving you the free movies. (let's see if they still say that on sunday)

So assuming the current sale on BR players ends Saturday, the cheapest player BB will have come Sunday will be $400? I really want to get one, but not for $400.

I believe the ad says 400 for the BR AFTER savings, but the HDD says 400 BEFORE savings...
Ah true, the A30 would be $300. I was just looking at BR players, but I am honestly very much on the fence as to which format I will go with. When I think I've decided on one, I see a movie only available on the other.
I don't know what players BB caries, but just because it isn't in the AD, doesn't mean they won't have a lower priced BR player. Checking what is on their website may tell a better story...
Yeah, that's what I was looking at to find this week's sale prices. Their website shows 8 BR players, the cheapest of which is the S300, which is on sale right now for $300. For that to go back up to $400 for the upcoming 10 free movies promotion would pretty much kill it for me.

Looks like I'm heading to Best Buy this weekend with the receipt for my BD30 that I bought on 12/18. Can't pass up five free movies.

How do I go about getting this deal? Do I go to customer service and talk with them?

I just bit on the PS3 from sony style for $299. I am now format neutral upstairs and downstairs. Two HDA3's at $149 each, one ps3 for $299 and a BD30 for $425. That's a total of $1024 compared to one LG dual format player at $900. I don't see the dual format players selling until they significantly lower the prices say to around $500 or less.

Is the ps3 still $299?

You get $100 off if you get a credit card from SonyStyle.com which makes the 40G $299 after rebate.

Video and Audio Center in South Bay (So Cal) has the Sony S300 for 279.97 out the door with free Spiderman 3 from Friday to Monday. You might want to price match with BestBuy on Sunday for 5 more free movies.

When I went in to get my 3 free from a prior purchase with my A3 I went to the Magnolia desk. They will just do a return and repurchase.

Will bestbuy allow me to return my 1 week old ps3 for instore credit to get a panny30 and use gift cards to make up the difference to get the 5 free movies?
