Fast forward to yesterday and they called to say the 390 is now discontinued and so they wouldn't be getting any new ones. They offered to help me find another model, or if I still wanted the 390 I could have the floor model for $190. I don't know if the 390 is being discontinued but I would double check with your local HHGregg to confirm that they really are getting new ones in stock and if so when?

Well the local store (Columbus, OH) never did get them in and I called the 866 customer service number to see if it was in any other store, they said no and that there was no orders to get anymore in.

I went back to my local store to see if i could pick up the display model and it was gone. Label was still on the shelf but the unit was gone and none in stock.

I did find this web site that has them refurbished at $199 with a 1 yr factory warranty. http://tristatediscounters.com/produ...0p-Output.html. They show 30 in stock. Anybody know anything about this company?

I have heard this model is discontinued and they are going to roll out the new model in February. Maybe that is what is really listed on newegg.com at the 379 price with an eta of 2/4/10.

I ordered a 390 from HHGregg on 12/23 and they charged my CC but no shipping info received and no player as of today. Only reason why I have not called yet is I have been crazy busy. Plan to find out tomorrow!!

Also ordered a Pioneer 320 from JR and it was in stock at the time of ordering but it has not shipped either. At least they did not charge my CC yet. Its now out of stock so I know what is going on in this case. Not happy about the feedback from either merchant. Especially HHGregg!!

I am just not lucky this week

Seems a tad early for products to be disappearing so early. Must of have been cuts in production along with holiday price cuts that cleaned out the warehouses this year. Usually this stuff sits around forever.

Wasn't it about 12 months ago that the Panny 35 & 55 disappeared from shelves?

Please any reviews on this unit would help. I noticed it wasn't reviewed in the chart winston made.

I don't understand why they price this unit so high. Who is the target market for a BD player this expensive, when price are going lower on mass market player? Is there some functionality for the high end user to make it worth $1200?

Expensive players (and they go much higher than $1200) are mostly intended for the audiophile market, for which there is no upper price limit.

If you use the coupon NEWYEAR10, you'll get 10 dollars off.

So the total for the LG BD390 would be $234 + shipping. Shipping for me was only $5 so $234 + $5 = $239. Lowest I've seen in a while.

can anyone speak for brandsmartusa.com's reputation for online sales? i've read some pretty bad reviews for them as a b&m. but at $128.88 for the jvc xvbp1 i'm all but sold. should i pull the trigger?

That's the best price by a long shot compared to any other place that actually has one of these in stock right now. Jump on it. I just did.

Thanks for the coupon, I just bought one,(240. shipped) wont see a lower price as these are scarce and the new model will be out very soon.

Apparently there is also a 2 to 5% bing cashback, but not sure if it applies if the coupon is used.

I bought the Pioneer Elite 23fd for $249+tax. The LG BD390 is very tempting at $240 including shipping. Decisions...

Just a follow up to my own thread in regards to HHGregg. They have a way to track the status of your package on there website. It turns out my 390 was shipped on the 23rd of December and was scheduled to be delivered on the 29th of December. However my package left Jacksonville FL and had not been scanned since. So I may have a shipping issue with UPS. I might give it another day or two just because of the Holiday chaos and winter storms may have delayed it further.

Also JR says more Pioneer 320's are on the way.

At least I will have something to play with hopefully. I ordered a JVC-XVBV1. It has been sitting at the local UPS depot since 12/31 but has a scheduled delivery date of 1/5. I guess UPS won't deliver it early

Anyways its supposed to come in today but its not on the truck for deliver

BTW, I am a blu ray player junky I hope I am not alone!!

I have noticed many times that UPS parcels will sit in the depot a few miles from my house until the last possible minute for delivery.

I suspect that they are protecting the value of their expedited services by deliberately slowing down the delivery.

The downside of this practice, from their perspective, is that this violates the principle that one should do any piece of work ASAP in order to clear it from your inbox. So the truck may leave the depot half empty because they deliberately refuse to load it with parcels that they are warehousing in order to deliberately delay.

I have noticed FedEx Ground is a lot better is this regard. They deliver it ASAP and nothing sits in the warehouse. I have packages arrive a few days early coming by FedEx Ground but never ever UPS Ground. Sometimes stuff sent 2-Day Air via UPS gets delivered next day but its rare. So I guess they care a little more about air parcels.

If UPS had a better system for tracking they could save some money. I had some DVD movies come in from Amazon yesterday. If the tracking system had known I was getting a delivery yesterday could have put that other package on the truck as well and save some time and fuel. I guess that takes to much work.

Should have got mine yesterday, they went up to $255 last night. Still picked one up though. The "newyear10" coupon still works. Unfortunately I am in one of the three states they charge tax for. With tax, shipping and the discount 266 done.

I sent HHGregg an email late last night and the replied first thing this morning. I was a bit nervous as they have a spotty track record. Basically my package containing my LG390 got held up and backlogged in the UPS system because of the east coast storms. UPS had more up to date tracking info then what was available on the HHGregg website and it shows it arriving at the local depot last night and being delivered today.

First post...thank you all for you input in the blu-ray player forum...

I have decided the JVC XV-BP1 is the player for me, unfortunately I am having a difficult time locating this item under $200.

Any recommendations for me?

Thank you all.

There is one on Ebay for under $200 shipped. Perfect seller also, (not me) I bought one for my daughter for XMas and she loves it.

$254.99 shipped for me.

My wife and I got some happy news related to her health, so I asked her about making the purchase. She said 'yes'. I've been wanting one of these since it came out, but we have had other financial priorities.

Thanks for the heads up on the deal and the coupon.
