bsevern,

What about my question would prompt a response that would prompt the rolling of the eyes? It seems like a logical question to me? $100 vs $34 I guess I will over spend by 195% on a blu-ray movie to have it a month early, because it is that good.

I would speculate that the Black Friday blurays will be the older non-3D models. Gotta clear out inventory!

Why people are willing to spend $100 to have it first, I couldn't tell you, but if you review the past sales on fleabay the numbers speak for themselves. I wish I had a truck load of some of these bundle only blu-ray 3D releases...there's a small fortune waiting to be made. If they make Avatar 3D BD a bundle only release initially, I'm sure it'll easily sell for over $100 on fleabay.

This is a "deals" thread.

Try this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=959985

for "which player is best for me?" questions. You'll have better response there.

Also, an AVS member is selling a C6900 in the classified section here for $179 incl shipping NIB sealed.

Looks like Samsung just released firmware that gives the 6900 a new Netflix interface with browsing function.

Those who receive the hhgregg ad in your local Sunday paper they have a price mistake advertising the ps3 160gb for 199.97 they will not honor at HHgregg as I tried, but Walmart will honor the advertised add price. I just picked on up at the local walmart.

I followed what shepjk26 did and just took the ad to the nearest Walmart and paid $199.97+ tax. I live in Marietta, GA. It nice of HH Gregg to send you the gift card, but you were taxed on $300.00. No big deal.

I see Amazon is currently selling the Panasonic DMP-BD65 for $103.68. Lowest I've seen on that unit for a while.

Sears has Sharp Aquos BDHP24U Blu-ray Player w/ Netflix Streaming and for $79.99 (see lower price in cart) - $10 off code searsnov = $69.99. Select in-store pick up to save on shipping, otherwise it's $8.20

Every several years I go into the Germantown, Md. BB and try to deal with them. Invariably, they do something outrageous and I don't go back for several more.

Case in point, based on your post I went in a few minutes ago. They had the 6900 open box for $219.99. I asked to see the store manager. "Julie" appears and I tell her Amazon has the item delivered for $214 can she go lower. She says she can't reduce the price (10% off their selling price) because "$219 is below their invoice cost." I asked to see that invoice and "Julie" responsonds "I can't show you that, you'll just have to trust me. We're done talking"

Looks like another couple of years, at least.

What did you expect since you pretty much outright called her a liar? Of course she got huffy, most people would.

You don't appear to know what you're talking about. If you did, you'd realize there are 2 more possibilities other than lying. First, it's unlikely and unwise, but possible BB paid more than Amazon and therefore $219.99 was below their cost. Secondly, she could have made an honest error, we all do.

It's inappropriate, given the 3 options, to assume that I was calling her a liar. If the roles were reversed, I certainly wouldn't have assumed she was calling me a liar (I'm not that insecure) and no I don't believe most reasonable people would. For some unsupported reason you feel differently and you're entitled to your opinion.

If you want to take this further, I suggest we take this off-line via PM, or e-mail.

I am suprised that walmart match the price since the PS3 is priced fixed from Sony, so I didn't even think about doing that.

Allen,

I think Walmart was just operating under their store policy of price matching from a competitors ad.

BTW, It sure is a time warp going to page 1 of this thread, prices $350-$400's 3 years ago vs now.......and the features/specs.

Will this season push Blu-ray players into the appliance realm?
For us consumers I sure hope so.
