I went to Best Buy tonight and got them to give me Fry's $299 price match on the Sony BDP-S300 AND 5 free Blu-ray DVDs on the spot, plus I have the 5 free Blu-ray DVD mail-in rebate! The 5 DVDs I chose were $29.99 each, so I got $150 worth of free DVDs:

Spider-man 3
Departed
300
Big Fish
Casino Royale

Just took advantage of that offer..very nice. Figured the PS3 was the best and cheapest "future proof" way CURRENTLY to go "purple"

biiscit ... I see no "buy it now" listings for the BDP-S300 on eBay for under $200. This is as of this morning.

Yep, I pulled the trigger last night too. Was planning on waiting until next holiday season, but the untimely death of HD-DVD really forced my hand. Part of my waiting strategy was for another price drop, but I figured if it goes down at all in the next year, it will probably down to $349 or something. No sense in waiting 10 months to save $30.

Apparantly fraudulant listings, they deleted the listing and booted the seller.

Is $400. the best deal for a Panasonic 10A? Has anyone seen a clearance price anywhere?

Don't poke fun if that was a joke, but I asked BB if you could access the web and browse via a PS3 and they said no, it only goes to the Sony site. Am I missing something? There's no browser in there , is there?

Thanks... Very good advice... One other question - does anyone know if BB will price match buy.com? I'd really like to try and get those 5 free in store DVD's

I think others have tried and bb says the ps3 is not a blu-ray player, but rather a gaming system.

Yet another reason I don't shop at Worst Buy

It even automaticly updates so you can play Windows media files, watch Youtube videos, and even save them to your harddrive.

you can format the harddrive...play multiplayer games online(via wireless internet), watch Bluray movies, wirelessly sync your PSP, upload photots and movies from the USB slots, even use a USB keyboard and mouse to surf the web The only thing I'm still trying to figure out is if I can network it with my home computer...

If anybody here works for IBM, you can use your employee discount at Panasonic Direct to get the 'BD30' for $375. I wonder if Best Buy will price match something like this?

anyone know if you can have a photo slide show on the ps3? i know you can store photos on it, but anyway to organize into a slide show or something like that? thanks
post #1546 of 13491
Labonte, Yes, you can do slide shows on the ps3. I was just found that feature last night. I have mine network to my home computers. I was able to select which computer to access, then select folder (1option) that the pics are in and then select the 1st pic in the folder. You then hit the options key and select slide show. From there it gives you like 4 different styles of slide shows. Pretty cool! One of them is viewing each picture like it is on a polaroid and it is being flipped down on a table in front of you with the date and name of picture. They land in different angles on the table and there is a brief pause between each pic. But to answer your original question yes, also a regular style slide show is available. I can now view pics, music, and videos on any of my computers in the house (on my network) on my 65" tv. Pretty dang cool! Oh and the game "Dirt" is a blast! Never thought I'd be gaming again at my age (44) but its just too cool to pass up.

Cool. Thanks, BB is worthless! I don't have an ethernet anywhere nearby, but I do have an apple wireless network, and the little pc laptop I gave my wife works great on it. Is there something that the PS3 can be plugged into that will go up on my wireless network?

If I'm in the wrong place and need to be redirected, I apologize. A link would be greatly appreciated.

Ack! NOOOoo. Use the $15 off coupon!! (edit:nevermind, he DID! )

http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=84773074

It also makes the PS3 $380 no tax, free shipping. I have one in my cart right now. Thinking about it. There is one locally on Craigslist for $350 that also has an extra wireless controller, and some "hi-def" cables (but no 5 free). Trying to make up my mind.

has anyone been able to get the 5 instant bd's from bb for a ps3?

i tried and failed.
From everything I've read, BestBuy will not price match any online retailer unless they have a B&M store that is local competition. Buy.com would be considered online only. You might get lucky, but I doubt it.

Not great but...

Found a Samsung BDP-1400 at Overstock for $299.99 (refurb) plus, there is a coupon for $15.00 off a purchase of $200.00 or more. http://www.couponmountain.com/stats/...&m=53&p=140739
post #1552 of 13491
The Sony 300 is on sale at my CC for $299. I guess I would rather just pay the extra $80 and get SM3, decent load times, and a future proof machine (oh yeah, and a gaming console).

It is specifically banned in the promotion. That would be a serious coup.

As a retiree, but with my son being a 2nd generation IBM'r this is a pretty good offer from beneplace.com. Of course you have to pay sales tax for your state/city but its free shipping. Just a tad over $401 for me here in Vermont. Still sitting on the fence tho....

Thats why I'm on the fence... Ouch! The 6ave.com deal with the coupon was the best I saw. Was like $384+ if I remember right. Indecision wanting to wait til after dinner to order cost me the deal. Well in this business there's another deal coming down the pike from someone so just need to be a bit more patient.

What is that place? Never heard of them before. Not a bad price. Don't know if that's the model I want though. Decisions, decisions.

great deal ,you got the most stable standalone BD player so far. you most likely need to update the firmware. Look for the Panny BD10A thread for all the answers.
