I just was told by a Sony Credit Card Service Rep that I don't qualify for the $150 credit because I didn't purchase a Sony item valued at $299 or greater. They also told me I wouldn't have qualified even if I had bought the Sony S550 at a similar price since Amazon split my order into 3 parts and the blu-ray player was under $299. What gives? I would swear that people in the first few pages of this forum claimed that they were receiving their $150 credits from Sony "authorized" E-tailers irregardless of the purchase. What a rip!!!

I had ordered the exact same thing from Amazon and noticed they had splitted my order in 2. I just emailed customer service (after logging in my account online) and they sent me an email next day saying it was fixed.

try doing that and let us know how it goes...

Went to Best Buy with the page listed in answer to my request above, took the DMP-BD35K to checkout and asked them to price match. They had to check with a manager, but they barely even looked at the printout before saying yes. Out the door with tax for $162.55 and I'm ecstatic. Thanks for posting the requested page link.

If I play dumb enough? I think I can get my local Sears to price match it.

My wife really excels at these things, I may get her involved.

I tried to get the Sears deal at Best Buy on the Panasonic Blue Ray BD35 , but they handcuffed me and I had to raise bail money to get out of jail. Seriously they tried the link at Sears.com to verify and said it must be out, no deal.
They offered me an Insignia for $149 I said no thanks. The printed out papers even said "In Stock" "Available for in store pick up" thanks to my html editing.

Mine was even easier than that yesterday. The manager didn't even look at my Sears price sheet. Just put in his approval code and went on his merry way. I dont even think he checked to see what I was buying.

There is no way the BB people in my area are stupid enough to honor this price. The print out says it is a google cache of the page...how can they not notice that?
Count me in as one of the unfortunate that decided to skip this thread over the weekend and congrats to those that were on their toes!

So... any deals on the Pioneer that aren't obvious?

Amazon currently has it at $418.66

Do a screen grab that doesn't include it.

i saved the html to my cdrive and took out the google box.
It looks normal, but the flashing the papers only led them to the web page to verify. I held onto them. If you can keep them off the pc, and just show them the price you may have an edge. Or we are all being lied to by these 5 people.

Like the person at the checkout counter knows what a cache is?

You overestimate the savvy of BB cashiers...

After getting shot down this morning at Sears for the $149 deal, I took the printout a to a local Best Buy, figured why not give it a try. BINGO!! They did it without blinking. Cashier rang it up, called a Manager over, punched in his code and done deal. Amazing. Not the first time this kind of thing has happened to me. This is so hit or miss depending on which location/store you go to. I really want a BD-55, I need the audio outs for my receiver. But this price was too good to pass up. Hopefully there will be some good prices on them this week. I'll keep the BD-35 boxed up and sell it, if I can get a 55 for the right price. I guess the lesson is, don't give up. Try another location if you get shot down.

Hell, if you're doing that, why not just edit the HTML to say that it's $99.99?

Of course I'm not being serious....
why would any competitor take your word for it, verbal or paper, it all has to be verified. Sears dropped the webpage after 12:01 am monday. Some managers just are being stupid. Avoid the dudes who work that dept.

I did print it out, but once it said it was out of stock. That would at least be better than the cache copy. But, from my experience, they check online to verify price and surely they will not go off of a print out (well, some are). Do they honor expired prices that were just a day old? I would call Sears at that rate and have them verify it was a weekend deal and tell that to the BB employee.

Congrats are in order then. Seeing as dealer price on the BD35 is about $220 it's rather surprising that BB would be so fast to mark it down to ~70 under their cost.

My local BB won't even price match Target $5 on a DVD without making sure it's in stock at Target.

Guys, go to your local store; it's worth a shot. I did today and I got the deal...

Told them that when I went to the website yesterday to buy, they were already sold out (which was the truth). I didn't even have to show them a printout (thank goodness because I didn't have one with me). I hate to say it, but if I were an underhanded person, I think I could have named my price and they would have been okay with it).

By the way, my journey started by calling CS, then getting in touch with the local store. The salesguy at the store said he couldn't make the deal happen, but that if I came down and talked with a manager, I'd have a shot, so I did and it worked out.

Oh yeah, I echo what the previous fellow mentioned about getting the wife involved. My wife took care of the whole matter... Indeed, "it's not good for man to be alone."

I got in on the Sonystyle $150 offer with no problem. By the time the statement came in it only showed $100 credit,so I called CS. I checked my balance before I talked to anyone and it showed that there was $150 credit. I asked the CS lady and she advised me that it was separated because of some billing cycle and when I bought it. So i did get the $150 off it just didn't show on my 1st statement(CS said the other $50 would be on the 2nd statement) . Paid it off completely and paid no interest .
I wish I would have gotten in on the BD35k deal with Sears. I had both at the same time and the BD35 is a better player in every aspect IMO but it wasn't night & day except in AQ(I have no idea why either).

I was just lucky, period. These things are usually pretty hit or miss, at least from my experience. In the past I have literally gone back to same store, talked with a different sales person, and got a different outcome. As I said, pretty amazing. It never hurts to try. BTW, the color cartridge in my printer is empty so the "out of stock" part did not print, maybe that helped??

Someone earlier said a memo?? came out saying the price was in-correct on the Sears website. Some people got notices saying this? Just curious if I am even luckier than I already feel.

Does anyone know if the KMart or Sears deals for the Sony BDP-S350 for $179 can be used online? I'd like to avoid the crowds if there's any way to do so.

If not, what are the odds of BB or someone price-matching it?

I too was very fortunate. Have been out of town on business for the past week and thought I would hop on the forum yesterday to get up to date. When lo and behold I find out sears is doing the one day online sale. Needless to say I called the fiance to get her to stop on her way home. Sears said no dice, it rang up 249.99. I told the future missus to print the online ad when she got home so she could try it again today. No dice again clerk needed manager verification and said manager was OTL. Asked missus to stop at local bb on way home and................BINGO they honored it. WOOHOO
Now I just gotta make it 24hrs til I get home to bd goodness. The gods of good fortune are smiling on me.

echo previous comments about getting wives involved. Mines a keeper

So what you're saying is your FIANCE got it for you? I wasn't sure since you only mentioned her 5 times. J/K, congrats. Got mine online when they were first available.

You guys are lucky that you can get away with that at your local bb's.But here in NJ,the bb's here would never honor such a deal without looking into it deeper. The bb employees here do not know much about the product they sell, but their surely not dumb enough to look at the sales add from sears.com and honor it in there store without flags going up cause of the low price.

HA. my local best buy in NJ thought i was crazy yesterday. 2 different managers in the place told me that they dont even consider price matching any internet prices and that it has to be in a flyer....Luckily i went to a 2nd sears and they took care of me

I'm in South Jersey and tend to agree with you. I also think some store managers just like to be more cooperative and don't want to lose a sale, especially in these economic times. The employees are another story.

Now if Sears, BB and others will mark down blu ray discs to about 5.00 to 10.00 a pop this would make us some happy campers.

Again, I'm stunned this is happening so often. This would never fly in my area either. They'd at least look it up and thus find the sale was over.

old news to some.. $128

Tonight, I stopped by Sears in Rego Park, Queens NY, and the Panasonic BD 35 was out of stock. So I went to Best Buy in Elmhurst, and showed the salesperson the Sears printout. I waited a few minutes so the guy could check it out... and they honored the 149.99 price!!!
