HD-DVD Player Special Deals: ALL pricing deals and locating talk goes here

Thread Starter
Hi folks,
This thread is for ALL HD-DVD player sales, special deals (including free disc add ons), price drops, and "where to buy" discussions. Also, please don't post links unless in order to get the "deal" you have to go to some super secret web page not readily accessible from the vendors "store front" on the web. (Some existing threads may be "grandfathered").

Thanks,
larry

I assume that Robert's page from **************** is one of the grandfathered sites. It is located here: http://www.*********************/avstc.htm

This is the specials page for AVS'ers.

Once a deal goes dead will it get removed along with all corresponding posts, or will this thread weed into one huge jumbled mess? Once a new deal is posted, why not make it a new sticky and unsticky the old deals that are no longer valid?

Great Sticky, ty mods

Has anyone read or heard anything about microsoft dropping the price on their add ons.It would be sweet if they would drop it down to $100 dollars. They can take the 5 free movies off and just keep it at $100

I was at Sears at the Wolfchase Galleria in the electronics department and they had a display model of an A2 it was $98.87 till 11-17-07. I did not see a box or a remote but instead of waiting on the A3 for black Friday this is a heck of a deal and they had the rebate coupon for the free hd dvds.
I have an A1 and only 1 hdtv with a receiver with 5.1 analog ins so I passed even though it was a great price. I am sure since it was a display model you could probably talk them into a lower price also.

Best Buy (Canada) has the A3 for $297 until the morning, can be ordered online.

To add to this, another option would be to allow new HD DVD deals in the main HD DVD Hardware and Software forum for a day or two, then merge it into this one. That way it'll get the highest visibility. Most people don't bother to check out a thread like this during each visit to AVS.

I picked up a brand new A2 at Sears in West Hartford, CT for $98 on Friday. I just walked in and asked what the price was of the A2 on the shelf. The Clerk siad that was "last year's " model, and checked the price on the computer and it came up $98. Obviously, I grabbed it. The A3 price was $299.

Your not the only one. There was a short lived thread about a guy buying one in Tuscon, AZ for $98 as well. Definitely something to look for the next time I'm at Sears!

At Best Buy the A2s are still ringing up at $99. You might find a display model tucked away somewhere.

Yesterday, I saw 2 A20s displayed on a Best Buy shelf. I told the the guy that they were discontinued and asked for a deal on the displays.

He couldn't find the SKU number for the A20 so he just rang it up as an A2.
Price came up as $99. I was happy to accept the deal!

finally a pricing thread. The only problem is I never look at the stickies by habit.
I always scroll down to the free flow convo. I guess I need to remember to look here from now on.

I wonder how often that happens as that would have to throw off inventory. BB may just end up with what looks like a bunch of A20s in stock but won't be able to find them since they were actually sold as an A2. Funny!

I went through Amazon.com 3 weeks ago for my XA2 (was sold by 6ave.com) at $539. When Crutchfield had it for $499 2 weeks ago, they refunded the difference.

Now with Amazon selling the XA2 for $479.98 directly, they just refunded me $20.01 again. Thumbs UP for 6ave.com (when purchased through Amazon.com Marketplace)...

I bought an A2 at tigerdirect yesterday for $149. Not $98, but I don't have time to go to all the Sears & Best Buys in town. I'm in so cal, so most likely stores are dry anyway. Oh well.

Man! Are you connecting with the right Amazon Customer Service folks... they don't usually refund for Amazon Market Place purchases...

Hmm I though I was clear, The Refund is coming from 6ave.com (they have a 30 day Price Protection Policy - and they stand behind it).

They are one of Amazon.com's Marketplace Vendors. 6ave.com refunds through your Amazon.com Account.

I highly recommend purchasing from 6ave.com (but through the Amazon.com website).

I was just at a local sears.
The salesperson knew they were sold out of the A2, and showed me where the A3 was on the floor. I asked how much, and the sign said $199, he said he knew the sale was over but would have to give it to me at the shown price.
He check the system, but there were none in stock.
I turned down his offer to order it for me. There should be plenty of other opportunities.

Just tried all the sears in my area, and no new A2's. One place had the floor model for $89, but I think I will wait for an A3 at HHGregg on BF.

Several people including me have received our A3 upgrades from Best Buy for Business even though our accounts still show “In Process” and we never received an email that the item was shipping. If you ordered an A2 through them then you should be expecting your A3 any day now.
