I want to thank everyone on this thread for two reasons. One, after the Warner announcement I accepted the future of Blu-Ray and wanted to buy a HQV Reon chip player, of which the Samsung BD-P1200 was the only reasonably priced one available. But, on the BR forums the irate Samsung customers blew me away.
So, I came here and read all the positive XA2 reviews, even after the announcement. So, I took the advice of many and purchased on this past week off of overstock.com for $379 less the 10% discount. That said, has anyone ever asked Overstock for a "Best Price Guarantee" when their own price drops. As many of us know, amazon.com protects you for a price drop within 30 days if you ask for it. I filled out Overstock's form a few times over the past two days, but every time I submit it the response is "Page Not Found'. I would have canceled my order and re-order, but I was past that point.
The curious thing about what is being written, on this and other sites, about HD-DVD, after the Warner's announcement, is not being picked up by the press. Just the fact that a present day Blu-Ray owner, even if happy, is not future-proofed says a lot.
I know I mixed up editorial content with Best Price, but I have been impressed with what I have read, and do want to know if anyone has ever asked Overstock to match their own price change.
P.S. I have an A-30, which is excellent. I wanted the HQV Reon chips upconverting capability.
