Good one aubsxc. I guess I will close the deal and add it to my A2, A35, and A30...I should stop. This is getting nuts with all the deals out there.

I ordered one on the 11th as well and it still has not shipped. I will be so glad when I finally have one in my hands. I checked on Amazon and it shows that I can change the order, which usually means it is not even close to shipping yet. Hopefully this just means it's shipping from close enough that it's only one day service through UPS or they just plan on bumping it up to NDA. I am starting to worry though that even Amazon doesn't have them.

For someone who took good care of their equipment and there is no obvious damage or problems it's probably a safe bet. And a fair price. I paid $318 for a refurb unit. The XA2 is in somewhat of class by itself(like the XA1). Solidly built, heavy, nice big display, and lighted remote. You won't be disappointed.

I'm also starting to worry, what is your estimated delivery and what shipping did you do?

Still shows est. delivery of the 14th and I used free 2nd day shipping. Technically no reason to worry I've had stuff ship later in the evening than this before and even stuff shipped they upgraded to meet the estimated date but after the whole Tiger Direct fiasco I am a little on edge about actually receiving one.

Circuit City in gaithersburg, off Clopper Road has 6 A30's and 3 A3- Most are Bourne Bourne in Box. One A30 had Transformers and Bourne in Box and I think the rest were 300 Bourne in box.

They are $99 and $129 respectively. No A35's I checked.

been looking all over today for an A35 but everywhere i go seems the price jumped way up! Anyone know a site that still has it for 170 or lower? TIA

I grabbed the last a35 at my local bb for 124. the a2 has gone to my bedroom. I tried for the demo xa2 in magnolia but he would not budge from 369. maybe if i bug them long enough i can get it for 100 or so. then i can send the a1 to the lake house.

Hmmmm.. This may turn into a good deal for me. I bought a refurb XA1 from Overstock a few days ago. The box did not contain the two free movies as advertised in their description. So I emailed and asked to be compensated for the oversight. No problem, the CSR emailed the warehouse and had the movies shipped.

Now it gets intreresting. I check the UPS tracking number on the movies the CSR gave me and all is fine, out for delivery for today. I happen to notice the weight of the package is 18LBS! Either they are sending a couple of heavyweight Hollywood blockbusters or they input the wrong weight for the shipment. Or..... I have a nice surprise arriving in a few minutes.

Like many others, my order with Tiger Direct via Amazon was canceled. So I jumped on e-bay, found an HD-A35 in what appears to be good shape, put in a bid and got it for $173.50 plus $15 shipping. A copy of 'King Kong' and an extra HDMI cable are included.

Chances are Toshiba's warehouses contain few, if any, of these. It's pretty standard practice to move 'em out asap once a decision is made to discontinue. At this point the "brand new" units available are going to be in small lots, usually a retailer who has a few remaining. Unfortunately, most retailers with a few units left over want to get their money out. So they are not going to give them away. The exception would be on the HD-A3, the "bare bones" unit, that Costco is practically giving away. That model won't do 1080p, so don't take that route if 1080p is important to you.

I'm thinking blowout deals on A35s and XA2s are about over. Prices will probably go up a bit on those two players in the coming weeks as blowout prices on new units dry up and demand goes up in the used market. They'll likely level off at a certain level, then stay that range for awhile. This is just speculation on my part, but it'll be interesting to watch pricing over the next few weeks.

Someone in Tennessee should buy the whole lot and resell on eBay. What is the sales tax in TN?

For $199, it's too bad I didn't live close to Tennessee.. I wonder if I could bribe them to ship a unit? I'd like to pick up an XA2, and refurbs cost more than that.

Already tried that, but stores are not allowed to ship across state lines.

Sweet just got one put on hold for me, ill pick it up on saturday as i drive back from Florida to Indianapolis. Looks like Ill return the XA2 I got from Best Buy for 250 now! What a great time for HD DVD players

Yeah i got that one. 250 seemed like too good a deal to pass up, although it was missing a remote. I was using my A2 remote for it, and bidding on a few XA2 remotes on eBay, but I was able to secure a new XA2 at the electronics express store in Nashville and pick it up on my way back from Florida. At 200 for a unit with a remote, thats a real good deal!

Ordered a refurb A2 from DiscountJungle via Amazon yesterday. Will let y'all know how it shapes up when it arrives next week.

Tell me about it...I bit the bullet and bought mine from Overstock.

But hey--I wanted an XA2 and many of the Ebay XA2 auction prices were beyond what I was willing to pay (yes they include some HD DVD movies but I either already had the movies in question or didn't care for some of the titles)...plus at least w/ the Overstock purchase I get a 90-day warranty. One good thing about the XA2 I got from Overstock--it had f/w version 1.3 on it, so after installing the RCE-free f/w it is now SD DVD region-free and PAL-capable.

I just got the one you had on hold! But they are sending one from another store to cover it. He told me you were coming from Florida to get it. I think they only had one left for sale at Hickory Hollow when I went in at 11:30CST. I think they just had one floor model per store available. I got lucky!
