Ok, I'll complain. I hate WorstBuy... because of their crappy prices and horrible customer service, they force me to never buy from them. Now I'm really pissed off because I will not be getting $50 from them... jerks.

LOL, because I didn't buy a player from them because of their high prices and bad CS.
(I actually would have bought a discounted A35 if I could have found one... but that's moot)

This is really cool, I should be getting some money on my 11/2 A2 (upgraded to A3) purchase. I just am kicking myself for not buying the Xbox add-on a day or two earlier, I KNEW the price would plummet and I could get a price match but was a bit hard up on cash to 'loan' Best Buy until that happened... If I would have done that I would've gotten the add-on free after the $50 GC!! oh well!!

I bought my HD-A3 in store, so I called 1-800-BESTBUY, and the nice CSR set up the gift card for me.

BestBuyTradeIn.com will accept trade-ins on HD-DVD players and up to six HD-DVDs, but you won't get much. They offered me $54 for an HD-A3 in excellent condition and six HD-DVDs. Yeah, I don't think so.

I was told from a BB employee that the notice they received stated end of month. I mentioned reading online that it is middle of next week, and he said the notice they received did not state that.

I have an A35 I bought on the 23rd and an add-on on the 25th. I hoping they'll at least give me a card for the A35. What's another 10 hours?

it probably has to do with the price drops thta BB had. On the 23rd, they dropped the price of the A35 from $300 to $150 (don't remember what the price drops on the A3 and A30 were).

I bought an A35 around the 19th of January and when the prices dropped to $150 on February 23rd, I went in and asked for a price match...they ended up doing a return and repurchase for me so I'm not eligible for the $50 gift card. Would it be nice to get it? Sure, but I'm not complaining because I only paid $160 out the door for it.

Darn... If they were sending them in order of purchase date, mine should have arrived in the mail today. I bought probably one of the first ten HD DVD players sold in Northern California, maybe even the first one.

Still, US$50 for free is a nice move. Thanks, BB!

I'll be happy when I have it in my hands. Forgive me for being skeptical.

How is Best Buy tracking the purchases.......?

I purchased two of the A-2's during the Thanksgiving $99 deal and used a credit card, but I don't recall filling out any info that BB could use to send me a gift card, unless they use the Credit Card receipt for my address........??

Not even sure if this applies to me...

There's no reason it shouldn't, but unless you bought a warranty (or have a Reward Zone card) you may need to take your receipts to a store and get signed up.

Whether it's this week or next, most people will probably get their gift card too late to use it for new discs.

I bought 2 360 HD Add on's in October during that free Heroes free HD DVD boxset fiasco.

I wonder if I'm getting $100 in giftcards even though I go all those boxsets for free with the deal.

Should I call?

This would be the deal of the year if I got it considering all the free HD DVD's I got with the 2 players I paid for.

Of course you will get it. All they look at is how many HD-DVD players you bought, not what else you got with it. I did the same thing (2 Xbox360 Add-Ons with various boxed sets), and when I called today to see if they could locate my purchases, all they said was that they showed I bought 2 HD-DVD players, and I would be getting $100 in gift cards in the mail within 4-6 weeks. No problems. No worries.

That is great news. Which number did you call? BBFB or BB?

Will we be able to buy HD DVDs online?

Nothing to be confused about. I'm T'd off because I'm not getting a $50 GC from WorstBuy like everyone else. The reason I am not getting one, is because I never bought an HD player from WorstBuy.

I'm getting two cards (called in today), $100 in gift cards and I only spent about $225 for both of my players. More movies and a couple of cheap Wii games, great deal.

Just call, don't tell them about the discs. They ask for your receipt information, that's all. If you paid cash, debit, credit and bought in-store you need your receipts. They as for the "Val #", store number and purchase date.

What's the difference? Since you're so unhappy with "worstbuy", getting a $50 GC would have made you unhappy with them for some other reason or other, seems like.

I will have to apply for this, I got my A1 in april of 2006. Paid $425 at the time. $50 would be nice. Buy more HD-DVD's or a few Blu-rays I've wanted. I wish they had more of a sale on the SW even at 30% wal-mart and amazon are cheeper on some discs. Although I did get casino for $18 something so that wasn't to bad

From the posts I've read of yours, you seem to be missing quite a bit. I'm having a ridiculously hard time figuring out how ANYONE can get that from "Best Buy, the nation's largest consumer electronics retailer, is giving $50 gift cards to customers who purchased an HD-DVD player or HD-DVD attachment from its U.S. stores before February 23, 2008." [text taken directly from Best Buy's press release page].
