I think I am close to "great deal" territory.

Now that's a much sweeter deal, it comes out about $7.12 per movie, if you can try to lower down another $40 from the seller to make it $6.5 per movie, that will definitely be a HOT deal.

Well my basic math goes like this:

$520 total
A20= $50
HDMI=$10
3 included box sets (Heroes, Smallville, Planet Earth)=$75 conservatively
Leaves $385 for the 66 other HD DVDs= $5.83 PER MOVIE

So that should be a nice deal.

are outragous! I check amazon every once in a while hoping to get lucky. The a35 is now up to $700 and the xa2 is $1000 and even the A30 is $355. Are they out of their freakin minds? Are people actually buying at these prices?

I'm happy I bought an A35 as a spare player three weeks ago for $150.

Thats probably not the place to be looking now. Inventory is limited and Amazon sometimes attract greedy 3rd party sellers.

I just picked up a brand new sealed in the box A3 for $112. I know thats not the deal of the century but still pretty good compared to what they were back in the hay days of HD-DVD. I will now have HD-DVD capability in every room of the house plus one spare. If you look around you can find brand new players for much much cheaper then the prices on Amazon.

I didn't realize that besides 66 HD movies, it also comes with 3 sets. Yeah, definitely a great deal. Go for it. Just curious, do you find it from a private seller or some store?

What is a fair price to expect to pay for a new in the box A3 or A30.

If that's the price third party sellers are getting on Amazon, so be it. Why does it make a person greedy to be getting what the market will bear? It's not a civil emergency to own an HD DVD player.

Bought a brand new A-35 on Ebay Saturday for $235, shipped UPS today and I should have it Thursday.

Let me tell you my friend, the private seller online route is the best method for HD DVD player and media deals. In the last month or so I have purchased an A35, XA2, A2, A20, and negotiating an XA1 through private online sellers for extremely low prices. In some cases they have receipt and warranty coverage.

Many folks are just wanting to give these away to either get some cash or to dump the format. Having paid $50 for an A30 at CC and getting 55% off of the 30% off prices on media at BB, I refuse to pay more than $7.00 for used titles or any more than 50% of LAST retail for players.

I use that as the starting point for negotiations with private, non AVS (read "Non informed") sellers. Once I hit them with the market information and my receipt proof most of the sellers are surprised and significantly lower their prices to recoup some of their investment while they can.

I love the AVS market and have used it but look at the relatively high price guys are asking (and getting) for used HD DVD media. The "outside" private world is still dumping cheaply for the most part.

Anything above MSRP is a sign of greediness in my opinion. If they are getting it then more power to them but I won't be buying. I doubt they are getting it though. Not on a dead format.

A3's are going for $75.00 at Wally Worlds in Northwest Florida. You might get lucky and find an A2 on clearance. I got mine for $65.00 All of the A30's I have seen are around $129.00.

You're just not getting it. But I'm not getting you either, so we're even.

it's just asinine! Every couple days it goes up several dollars. Over the weekend it was way less and I thought that was outragous. I can't wait to see this weekend It's a dead format. I was only going to get one for the upscaling benefits. F-that if they are going to charge up the wazoo.

Greediness is what greediness does.

You know it when you see it.

Like when someone low balls you on a asking price. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

The way you take care of those guys is to just move on and let them eat their dead format players.

Wow. I feel great that I paid $120 (incl shipping) for a new A30 from Vann's (all gone now). I just received mine yesterday - will crank it up shortly. FYI, you can go to Costco and get a D3 (their A3) for $80. I suspect alot of people wanting to make a quick buck snapped up all of the hardware firesales and are now exploiting the limited availability - they're basically doing the same thing when the Wii was in such short supply. Basically: you snooze, you lose.

Well today my wife and I were in the mall killing some time while our kids were at a birthday party. Before we left, I told her I wanted to check in at the FYE store. Low and behold the unit was still there and marked at $99. I couldn't pick up the box fast enough! I headed to the register and had the clerk scan it just to be sure. Sure enough, the price rang up at $99 and change. My wife saw me walking out of the store and said, "I hope you got a good deal on it." I said, "How does $99 sound?" She smiled and we walked to the car.

I also picked up 3 titles at CC clearance sale this morning. A couple other guys were there picking out some discs too. The had two bins about halfway filled, and reasonable selection - most of which I already had. Anyway $12.50 each wasn't bad, so I was happy. Good day in all.

I also had been checking my local FYE and they finally dropped price,They had 2 new XA1 $99.98 I got them both couldn't pass up the deal.they also had A2 for $99.99.
On another note newegg.com had A20 for $99.99(which I got) now $199.99 + shipping it seems prices are starting to rise.

I noticed that the A35 is selling from $407+ on Amazon Marketplace. The most outrageous price is $699 from Toyzz - avoid them like the plague. The A30 is selling anywhere from $220 to $400 - what a rip.

I saw yesterday where they have raised the A20 back up to $199, although when I looked it said they were out of stock on them. I'm glad I jumped on the $99.00 one when I did.

I was searching for the XA2 in eBay and ran across someone who is selling information on where to buy a refurbished XA2. For $5, they'll tell you where you can get it for $299; I presume in ubid.com.

If this item sells, that'll prove everyone's point on how clueless are some eBay buyers.

Like I said, I feel very lucky I got my A30 for $120. I can't imagine people are not shopping around and paying such outrageous prices. As David Hannum (not P.T. Barnum) said, "there's a sucker born every minute".

Ubid has 15 A30s up right now for $75 + $45 shipping. $120 total.

I want them to lower it back down to $259 plus shipping. I almost bought one at $294 shipped, but held off. I don't want to pay $334.

Don't think they'll lower the price given the demand. I bought one at $299...still a good deal.

I bought an A3 from Electronic Express in Tennessee through Buy.com on March 24. It was $99.72 with free shipping. A $20 Google checkout coupon brought it down to $79.

Sounds like a good deal for a new machine, but Electronic Express doesn't seem to want to ship. Charged my credit card the first day. They have listed the A3 as in-stock since my purchase but have raised the price twice, now at $149.99. I think they don't want to honor the price I ordered at and are going to wait me out until they have nothing left. They never did respond to a second email.

No contact from them, wrote last week asking what was up and was told they were bringing inventory in from their stores and it was taking longer than expected. That sounded a little far-fetched, especially now that it's been 10 days and all their stores are local, not like they had to pull stock from Zimbabwe or Tristan da Cunha.

Retailers sure aren't what they used to be, and it's always a gamble you'll get an honest one online.

If they are trying to play you, they're idiots! Especially for only $50.00, they're going to lose much more than that in employee time responding to you, processing your credit, and especially from your repeat business and the negative reviews. I just don't understand how some companies stay in business these days with all the crap they put us consumers through.

If I am correct, I think the last "lot" of XA2s (not the current one) at Ubid had like 50 players up for sale. I think only 15-20 of them sold before the auction ended. Now their re-listed at the same high price. That would put the demand LOW for the current price point. They'll sell more/better when they get the price below $300 shipped.

If they still have it you might want to directly ask the sales rep. They told me they have it playing the demo feed to their tvs. I believe some of the stores have a player in the back that feeds all the tvs in the store so that is where it might be.

Good luck.
