For those that are desperate for one, I suppose this is a good deal. Amazing though that the price has more than doubled from the last sale. I tend to think that these ones may actually be refurbs as opposed to new ones like last time.

Here's the link for the DV-HD805:

And you never know, maybe they'll go on special for much less.

Well, according to the 805 Defects Poll there were at least 7 returned to Onkyo. Also, Smarty, no free shipping this time either.

Walmart here in atlanta has the RCA HDV5000 for $59. I'm wondering if I should bite.

$299 for a refurb is not a good deal, even for the SD DVD abilities

For $59 I would bite...

Can't afford to spend $300 on that, despite I really really want it.

My understanding is that the internal components are the same for both units.

Unlike the XA2, the 805 remote doesn't have the "Picture" button for tweaking the image. (The capability itself is there within the player. It's just that you need an XA2 remote or something like a Harmony learning remote to access it.)

If you already have an XA2, I would just stick with that. (BTW, nice deal on that!)

BB lowered the price on the BH200 to $399.

if u want one this would be the way to go. not as good of a deal but everyone else is trying to make a killing on units that might potentially be worse than the refurbs. the choice is urs!

Upconverting DVD player...made a mess of things when HD DVD was relevant. One retailer even had a Sony branded one saying HD DVD player.

The actual RCA HD DVD player (HD-A1 clone) is silver.

Which one? I'll be in ATL on Monday.

The refurb Onkyo DV-HD805s will be 10% off starting tomorrow, 8/23. Should be $269 unless they change the price.

That's aweful. TheNerds isn't really a fly-by-night type of place. I can't believe they'd try to dupe people like that. I don't care what the marketing sheet says. They know it's not an HD player, and should know better than to advertise it as such. I was pretty sure it was something like that, just wanted to ask to be sure. Thanks for the explanation.

The Onkyo TX-SR705 is a 1.3 hdmi compliant home theater receiver.
mustvid, this is the thread dedicated to pricing deals on HD DVD players. You may want to ask that question in the threads dedicated to the equipment you are inquiring about.
