Have you checked those issues?

I dont know how to display the exact frame rate on my LCD (Sony XBR4 ) It does say 1080p/24 which it said before. However, with 2.5 I could see a slight stutter in the image from time to time on that setting which is not the case with 2.7 so it appears to be displaying 23.XXX.

Audio is in sync on my XA2 on the 1080p/24 setting with 2.7 which was not the case under 2.5.

It didn't take me longer than 20 minutes with my XA2

Does it fix the A20s 1080p/60 issue?
I tried to update but says I am up to date. I have 2.5 on my XA2.

Are you trying to update over the Internet?

If so, you won't be able to update yet because the new FW has not been officially released yet.
On my XA2, I performed the update and this enabled a new selection in the setup menu for enabling "Digital Direct Audio."

I verified that Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD is now passing via bitstream to my Onkyo 605 as it is now lighting up with the correct audio format that I choose. I have provided screenshots below for viewing.

I have yet to see if DTS-HD or DTS-MA is supported as I don't know if I have a title that has this on the disc itself. I don't have any import HD-DVD which many seem to include DTS-HD tracks. If you know of any US titles I could try let me know, I have a good portion of movies:

I have a Westinghouse LVM42w so I cannot verified anything was fixed in regards to 24hz output.

Anybody with a A20 notice a difference with 2.7?
I don't want to be a guinea pig.

Yes it was over the internet. I guess I will try and create an ISO disc.
Mine says 2.5 - and it says that my software has been updated already. I guess they pulled it for some reason.

I bought underworld on HD a german import, with DTS Master Audio. I have a onkyo 705 reciever connected using the newest Monster 1000 HDMI cables. I have herd that you need to get a HD-A35 to get the reciever to say dolby True HD or Master audio etc. Whats driving me crazy is that I saw, it say 96 khz at one point and now it just says pcm 48khz and i have switched back to fiber optic to try to find the magic combo to make it say that. It still sounds amazing at 48khz. Does anyone know what this 2.7 will do for HD-A2 if anything at all? I think since im at 1.2 hdmi, i am dead in the water for seeing dolby true hd, I wish the A2 would just pass the data to my reciever in all its glory. I guess i am hearing the true hd i just cant see it lit up yet.

Will the new f/w update allow hd master audio to pass through the 5.1 analogs on the xa2?

If someone could post a link to the 2.7 ISO for the HD-A2 / D2 then you would be a hero to those of us who own these machines.

If you had read the thread you would have seen it was never released online yet for the player to download. The release is not official yet.

I get the Dolby TrueHD on my Onkyo 605 as well, but my Optoma HD80 projector is still not getting the 1080p24. It remains at 1080p60.

Good idea. Maybe I will wait just in case there isn't a problem with the new firmware.

Toshiba usually releases a Image File that you must burn to a CD before the direct Web Update (from the Player's Setup Menu) is available. If you want it now, download the file and unzip it and follow the instructions on the first post in this thread.

What about connecting your player directly to the HD80 and bypassing the Onkyo? Also, what is your Player's manufactured date?

Here are my pics of TrueHD...I had to set SPIDF to bitstream eventhough I don't use it to get it to work???

I'm going to check on the 1080p shutdown bug that my player has right now...should know in about 5 minutes when it would usually shut down before I started doing the hdmi handshake workaround....

Edit2: Nope..shutdown bug still present...will do my handshake trick and watch BB with TrueHD bitstream...sounds amazing...but thats just because I like the TrueHD lights!!

Edit3: One more pic of the display sending direct truehd...

With 2.5 it released the same way.... Page went up for 2.5 but when you clicked the link to download it downloaded the prior firmware. Playing with the URL to reflect the new firmware downloaded 2.5. I suspect it has more to do with the way that the update is deployed to the Toshiba website and various servers than actually downloading a beta which usually wouldnt be accessible on the live website. That said, I could be wrong! Proceed at your own peril.

Nope. I didn't. Just the title. Very perceptive of you. Been waiting waaaayyy too long for this. I'm a bit impatient at this point. Went straight for the download.

Did I perceive a bit of a condescending tone? Shame on you, it's almost Christmas too.

No, it still does not work with the XA2 hooked up directly via HDMI to the Optoma. Do you mean serial number? SLE7103424.

I didn't have to change it (still at the default, PCM) though I am retesting Transformers now. I do see the Dolby Digital Plus (5.1) Indicator on my Onkyo 805 (instead of displaying Multi-Channel PCM 5.1).

I'll test a movie with TrueHD soon.

Oops, I meant manufactured date.......

What the heck no love for the A2 owners.
Even though I won't install the FW until a few days after it is officially released, I'm anxious to hear how it works NOW.

Still waiting for somebody to confirm whether the 1080p/24 is now outputting at the 23.98 frame rate.

And I'd like another confirmation that the audio synch problem has been fixed.

Thanks guys!

I know, I have an A2 as well, and it does not seem to be on their website yet...

I keep checking, and trying different things, to find it if it is there. I need it to fix my HDMI to DVI colorspace problem.
Can the A2 pass the new audio codecs via bitsream if it gets an firmware update or does it lack the hardware to do so?

You are correct, but the 2.5 FW update eventually DID show up properly on the Toshiba website -- about a week after people on this forum were already using it.

I was one of the early FW adopters last time, and it worked out fine, but this time I'm playing it safe and waiting for Toshiba to make it official, just in case they make some last minute changes.

Actually I tried it back to PCM and it worked but then one time it went back to pcm all of a sudden so maybe a little buggy...right now its working and playing thru Batman so it seems good!! I don't have 24hz capable display so can't confirm if its 23.97 or not.
