"Bruised" receiver? What does that mean?

Hi,

I just sold an Onkyo 530 receiver to someone, who, after hooking it up to his speakers, noticed it had a lot of noise. He took it to an audio store, and they said it wasn't blown, but it was "bruised."

Just wondering if anyone knew what that meant.

Thanks!

I don’t know the technical term, but I would guess it means dropped. Maybe-certain internal hardware like circuits are cracked, loose, or damaged in some way.

That could mean anything. It's not a technical term. Could just mean heavily used and on it's way out, it could mean just about anything.

Probably means it still works but not to specs, or has some non-fatal problems they may be able to fix.

Did you give any kind of guarantee with the sale? or did you go "as-is" on it?

I sold it on craig's list, but I wouldn't want to screw anyone. I heard static out of one speaker when I had it, but thought it was just the speaker.
